The Raza de Odio is a band formed in Genoa in 2002, the members of the group are Zanna from Sadist, John formerly of Necrodeath, Cadaveria and DyNAbyte, the flamenco guitarist Paco, the Italian-Brazilian guitarist Lopez. The group also included Peso from Necrodeath, who returned to the band fully in February 2006.
The album is a thrash metal heavily influenced by bands like Brujeria, Soulfly. The lyrics are largely written in Spanish and similar to the early Dead Kennedys and Brujeria. In certain tracks, the voice resembles Steve Sylvester from Death SS.
"La Nueva Alarma", after a brief start with the voice of Radio Nacional de Espana, begins with an increasingly fast acoustic guitar, transforming into a faster drumming by Peso. Additionally, there are fairly rapid tempo changes by Peso. The song is one of the best on the album.
"Raza de Odio", opens with a beautiful acoustic guitar arpeggio that leads us into one of the heaviest tracks on the album. In this song, Peso sets the pace with uncompromising drumming. The chorus easily gets stuck in your head, making the song one of the best.
The third song, "Destroy", the most tied to canonical thrash metal, is one of the weakest and most monotonous on the album, failing to rise above mediocrity. It's built on riffs that are very nice but perhaps overused. Here, Zanna's voice attempts to blatantly imitate Steve Sylvester.
"Malafama", also very intense and varied with a fantastic solo, after a calm start, transitions to having riffs, here much more diverse and not repetitive like in "Destroy", the riffs are covered by the percussion and Peso's drumming, who does his meticulous work.
"Otra Vez" opens with a battle between acoustic and electric guitar, Zanna's voice here is angrier than usual. In the midst of destruction, there are insertions of acoustic guitar.
"Matando Güeros" opens with a bass intro, shortly interrupted by guitar riffs, here the influence of Brujeria is very strong.
"Vente pa' Madrid", one of the most unusual songs on the album, is a song almost entirely with flamenco acoustic guitar with thrash drumming, leading to one of the most beautiful results on the album.
"Mienten", in contrast, opens with a very calm flamenco arpeggio, followed by the canonical thrash song, interrupted halfway by the flamenco guitar. The chorus with "no me arrepiento" repeated several times sticks in your head.
"Una Luz", opens right away with Peso giving his best, here too the song is made of tempo changes, but it's the song that doesn't take off.
"Odiados", instead, is one of the best songs on the album with the chorus "Nosotros pa' siempre seremos odiados," it's a wild shot of the album.
"United Forces", is a nice song but not one of the best on the album, in some ways, it falls into repetitiveness but remains acceptable.
The album concludes with "El Tiempo" with Peso's introduction and very beautiful riffs. This song, perhaps one of the least fast on the album, is one of the best.
The rating would be a 3 but in my opinion, an additional point should be added for the desire to push metal out of the usual patterns. For this, I believe that along with Novembre and Sadist, they are one of the most innovative bands.
