Damn, I hadn't read above: did rock die in the 80s? Yes, maybe at the mass level... but have you ever heard of Husker Du, Pixies, Joy Division, PIL, and various friends? Oh right... they must surely be bands from the community center, right? I can almost see myself at 12 years old when I strongly believed in the equation: rock=(hard rock/glam rock) = 70s.
