A bit of "sensucht"? Melancholy? Spleen?

Sure! My reasoning was about my vote. Yes, the historical phase is not the best. But that's exactly why there are these reviews... Regards!

I'm sorry sfasciCarrozze, maybe it's time to make sense of the vote given. I consider this review a 5 in its genre. It's clear that from a "serious" perspective I'm not sure it would reach a 2. But where do you put the laughs? And then everything fits with the reviewer's nickname and the album being reviewed. A nice naive picture.

Betotal, I even remember that some editor, not long ago, published an editorial praising those who, in some way, "put their soul" into what they wrote, allowing passersby to look inside (the soul). Perhaps it’s an exaggeration, but not by much. You are also right in saying that those who write usually do so positively about a record they liked, or markedly negatively out of principle like The Punisher. But they rarely remain "detached." Voiceface, a curiosity: what high school (or secondary school and potential university) did you attend? To understand your orientation. Humanistic, technical, scientific. Maybe that's where the answer lies (I mean, if you're a nuclear engineer I somewhat understand you).

I think we feel the same way about Metheny. Wow, but that's a really tough conversation to digest! I'll delve deeper for the others...

So. Voiceface, first of all, I always appreciate feedback if it makes sense (at least to me). What you are suggesting ultimately falls into the very personal matter of one's taste. Some people prefer technical reviews, while others enjoy participatory ones. Now, as far as I'm concerned, if I'm looking for a technical review, I usually check newspapers or the internet. When I'm here on Debaser, I'm aware that, when writing a review, the writer's ego will inevitably come into play because I believe we write here out of pure passion and, above all, because we are not paid journalists, but, I think, usually enthusiastic or disappointed fans. If I tried to write a review as you suggest, I would most likely produce a half-baked piece; I wouldn't be able to, or I wouldn't even bother. I write when I feel like it and enjoy doing it. And these two things come to me when something excites me. If it excites me, it means I dive into the album headfirst. It’s all a consequence. Regarding what Waits would have seen, the essence of what I wrote is that he has lived through some pretty rough times tied to drugs and alcohol worse than most of us, as far as I know. I didn’t write about all of us. Probably someone has lived through even worse moments. However, it shouldn’t all be taken literally and as pure gold: I also write impulsively, instinctively, and above all, what I think. In summary, I believe that EVERY review, no matter how aseptic, technical, precise, and historically accurate, will ALWAYS represent a subjective view of the album in question. Anyway, just to avoid misunderstandings, I really like your reviews, especially the one of "La voce del padrone" by Battiato.

Yes. Then there's also to say that the bright yellow background of the CD becomes tiresome over time. A light blue would have been better.

Oh noooooo (but do you negotiate between posts? Lucky you!)! Well, it means you'll have more time to write reviews here.

I'm sorry, Emanuele, it's perfectly fine to talk about music and albums (actually, I'm waiting, and I believe I'm not the only one, for your reviews on albums you recommend)... as for Pippo Baudo and Marisa Laurito... well, I don't know if this adds more water to your mill. Why don't you tell us the show, the time, and the day, and which one you'll be (like the one with the crew cut)? That would be interesting... Anyway, good luck (lucky you...!)
