It's becoming increasingly difficult to read banalities like this. This "mold" from the musical undergrowth that is "elevated" to something more than what it - objectively - deserves is emblematic of a horrible approach to music. "Horrible" because those who approach it already have such a blindfold (I would say a soundproofing) that they already know what is right and what is wrong, what is rock and what is not, especially what is dead and what is not, even after having cataloged decades of music, leaving out some artists and including others with the only, unassailable benchmark that isn’t theirs. Kid... you've got a long way to go before you start spouting judgments.

Yes DonJ, okay. It was to clarify this long-standing and clichéd discussion about the mainstream, the copies sold, the records known by a few chosen ones, and so on...

Donjunio, I think you haven't understood my thesis: there are people who judge records based on how many copies they sell, and I am not one of them. The discussion about Springsteen (I believe regarding Purple Rain by Prince) was about the social impact that Born in the USA had compared to Prince's album. Let's not mix things up. Regarding this album, I think there are two ways to judge it: those who saw it come out (with all the movement and shake it caused) and those who saw it ten years later. Strainflated. Now, in the approach to this CD, I believe there is, at times, a bit of snobbery. I understand (and believe) much more the people like Sfasciacarrozze who have never liked Nirvana than the "kids" who act alternative even when it doesn't make sense.
Simple Minds Street Fighting Years

I too am a veteran of the '80s, I agree with Grendel's stern warning: be careful when criticizing them, one needs to have a solid understanding. However, the Simple Minds, for some reason, I've never been able to digest. Yes, some nice songs, yes, they seemed epic, yes, engaged, yes, a pumped-up voice. But, I can’t help it, they never struck a chord with the teenager I was back then. I preferred The Joshua Tree by U2, an album I felt was more genuine.

Killgod, did you just give him the "formal you"??? You were lucky he didn’t reply: Gli AfexChi? Great album from one of the greatest composers in history (of cinema). Come on, I’m bold, without (of cinema).

You know, your review sounds like one made by a scientist observing an extinct insect through a microscope, and while describing it, taking notes in their notebook. As for the album, so much has been said and more. I have a little idea: if it had sold poorly, it would have become a "cult" album. It sold too well, and this seems to be a flaw.
Giorgio Gaber La mia generazione ha perso

Ajeje, well, the medium of expression is not fundamental. Poetry, music, theater, politics... there are many. I agree with you that in Gaber's case, the music probably was not always on par with the concepts expressed.
