All metal, if anything, I like all genres, I'm not metal (including the extreme ones). But for heaven's sake, what is this? I can't listen to these guys easily after having listened to an album by Rush, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Venom, Mayhem, Emperor, Pantera, Dream Theater, Queensryche, and the other hundreds of great bands that come to mind! Want to glorify violence? Listen to a SERIOUS Thrash/Death band! Want to glorify Satanism? Listen to a SERIOUS Black band! Want to talk about technique? Listen to a SERIOUS prog band! Not this crap that takes a bit from everywhere. These guys not only have created nothing, but they take the worst from everyone!

The Dream Theater didn't invent practically anything, that's for sure. But they are definitely among my all-time favorite bands... As for Rush... well, what can I say? Listening to music from 30 years ago and still finding it incredibly relevant... This is art, gentlemen, Art.
PS: We're also organizing a tribute band to Rush where I'll be the singer, so I've been listening to them a lot lately!

I believe that albums should be judged for what they are, not for what they are in comparison to what the band has done before. I don't find that to be an objective thing, because undeniably the work will be assessed poorly (both positively and negatively). What can I say, by the way I like it (and I started listening to the Red Hot with Californication, but I've never had pimples!), it's definitely a "softer" album compared to the others, not a masterpiece, but I like the songs. Besides that, I will always cherish it as a good memory, it was the soundtrack (God, how cliché it sounds) of a very beautiful summer. For this reason, even if I think it deserves a 4, I rate it a 3... I don't agree with the review, just because it doesn't "rock" doesn't mean it's bad...
