Tobby, how old are you? Because certain simplifications are acceptable from a kid, but if you've passed the Clearasil era, they become a bit more serious, given the history of Italy, that of the Italian left, and also my personal history, if you allow me, like that of millions of other "leftist" Italians over the last 50 years. Even if regarding the statements of certain politicians about the sense of national unity invigorated by the "triumph" of the pelotari, as well as their willingness to wave and drape the cities, you are not wrong. A spectacle of very sad "joy." But it’s an even older story, the usual opium of the people, sometimes heavenly, sometimes "azzurro."

Totti is the most blatant example of how overestimation and media exposure can harm talent. It has been irritating, this time as in others. After the first three ā€œpassesā€ that went awry in I don’t remember which match, to demonstrate some quality I don’t know, I would have bitten his ear off. Stop this ball, defend it, look and play it, damn it. Take some risks, take on some responsibility. Instead, he continued with another 4 or 5 of those useless touches. Sure, sooner or later one could have had some effect. I can’t even stand the idea of a comparison with Baggio, who creates two wonderful goals and saves Lippi’s ass while coaching Inter at the end of the season, after a year of eating shit because of the character of the good Marcello, who has always favored the brown-nosers, something that’s well known in the environment (I mingled for a while with some players who won the Champions with him at Juve). No, no comparison with Baggio, you are perfectly right. But I believe you continue to confuse Zidane: we are not the ones ruining his reputation. He did it all by himself. In front of millions of eyes, on the day that was supposed to consecrate him. And he did it in the worst way possible.

Renè, if you don't know him well, you're missing out on one of the most flavorful bassists of the last 20 years, with an impressive average production quality. Sure, I still listen to a lot of crackly vinyl and probably miss many details, especially since I have quite a modest setup. But listen to one of his latest, Nightfall, in duo with Taylor, and tell me if that sound isn't magnificent. Bai bai.

Linus, there’s an aspect of your speech that’s somewhat understandable. However, the mere hint at defending the schizoids and unacceptable, unjustifiable behaviors of a great player like Zidane brings the whole castle of cards crashing down. There’s no reason to rank rates of violence and decide who is more violent, him or Materazzi. - The football seen in the World Cup was the regressed and boring version of recent years, but the most pathetic match was Brazil’s, precisely against France. None of Italy's matches were that pathetic. A young unknown like Grosso showed things that were better and more "exciting" than many planetary stars; Cannavaro delivered an outstanding game (football is played in every area of the field, remember?) at times Zambrotta was superb, certainly more than Roberto Carlos, and the tenacity and fairness of Gattuso are qualities that anyone who has played football cannot deny. I don’t care at all about being represented by a group of billionaires in shorts, so the rhetoric for or against (yours or anyone else's) seems out of place to me. But if we’re discussing football or the seriousness of unsportsmanlike behaviors, let’s stick to the facts. And those, overall, are clear. A team of billionaire workers won a World Cup of lazy, idea-poor billionaires. And the big names have shown impressive inconsistency. - The most blatantly unsportsmanlike and deplorable behavior came from what should have been the Lord of the World Cup. Period. - The anthem by Mameli is not great, but do the others sound better to you? Yesterday I was listening online to one written by Gaslini (not just some random Papetti) for Frigidaire. Well, that one was also rubbish. Let’s entrust ours to Banda Osiris; at least it brings a smile.

'59 is a wonderful year "regardless." - Strange, there still wasn't a review of this album on DeB? I agree on the extreme enjoyability of this "exercise" in rhythms, another possible great entry point for newcomers into the jazz universe and a given and repeated passage for anyone who frequents it, whether as a casual listener or as a musician. Renè, I see you’re tackling the "classics." The jazz section of De Baser has made an excellent new acquisition. Despite your reluctance to vote for others, take this 5.
