It seems you didn't like this album. But you do like the idea of having torn it apart. The first thing is obviously normal, a matter of taste, indeed. The second might be a wish, but reading it seems evident that the result hasn't even been grazed: everything revolves exclusively around your likes & dislikes (as others have already pointed out to you). They may be exquisite, but they don't constitute a useful term for the operation of "critique." (And they quite directly contradict statements like "I don't take myself too seriously like many here.") I would also avoid unrestrained enthusiasm for O.K. Computer; for me, it gets to a 4 if it's the right day. And maybe I would even enjoy dismantling a bit the usual absolute tone that fans reserve when commenting on this and other albums. But out of respect for the work and the tastes of others, I would try to do it well and not center everything around my own taste. I see someone does that, evidently believing themselves to be the custodian of a superior taste. And reacting to the rightful observations (in a comments space, at least you'll concede this?) with a tone of superiority or disdain, to the point of deriving superficial analyses from a nickname (another who takes themselves too seriously, go figure), avoiding engaging with the substance of things. In short, if you want to pretend that you have torn the album apart, we can do that. And we avoid letting our Brazilian friend know that you brought her up for no reason. And we agree with you on everything. After all, what does it cost? You’re happy...

It's stronger than me, Leonid, I can't do it. Pretend I admitted it :))

Leonid, look, I was talking about myself, it wasn't "transversal" :)) But I'll gladly steal you the quote from Malerba, or whoever it was. Bye.

However, it is certainly possible to trace stylistic elements or sonorities that we prefer, that we like more. When I said that much of that "scene" does not arouse any curiosity in me, I meant this: it surely has its reasons for being, but I don't believe I'm capable of seriously analyzing them, of expressing significant judgments. What I know is that it does not interest me. It is, however, evident, even to a distracted listen, that in the music of Ar.Dev. or others, there are elements of a long tradition that encompasses soul, funk, jazz, and soul, which are more aligned with my tastes. I also find the attitude that comes through to be more "understandable," although superficially, more articulated and "reflective" yet in no way accommodating. And returning to what Socrates said and the exchange with Leonid, that tracing of coordinates that should describe the "creative" evolution appears a bit too Manichean and definitive to me. On one hand, there is mention of sedimentation (and the implicit flow of time, the overlapping and chaining of relationships), while on the other, absolute criteria are established that would allow some to create the rift, relegating all others to the role of Rondò Veneziani. However, I confess to being always at a loss when the discourse shifts from "concrete" objects like a record to broader systems, and it may be that I have once again misunderstood. But I will continue to attentively follow the conversation, because I truly have no certainty about anything. Bye.

I don't understand much, honestly. I don't see the need to "counterpose." And I believe it is quite naive to imagine we can codify or dissect the meaning and the "history" of a musical and "cultural" phenomenon that we observe from a vast distance, as great as that which separates pale-faced Italians from the old or new actors of the rap or hip hop scene.

Hi. - (One day, could you write something about that nice guy Blegvad? I know very little about him...)

London, are you the reviewer? If so, and if this bothered you, I apologize. But you know how it is, on DeBaser the comment section is traditionally also a meeting place between the serious and the humorous, and so far each of us has gladly accepted that it can happen in our little pages. - As for the review, I admit that I don’t have a very clear memory of this album, which I did listen to at the time with some pleasure. It's too far back in time and quite distant from my tastes back then to express an opinion. Regards.

@Antmo: if you give me those names, it's not exactly tout court... These, as the good Qzerty says, were peasants. And peasants, you know, have a bit of a history of their own. (Did you write two lines for the heirs?) - @Noriega: you're quite sentimental, you are. I don’t think you’ll ever stop surprising me, I believe... - @Socrates: sticking to the earthly slope of feelings, I tell you that it was love at first sight, it already was. Now it's like finding the girl, the woman, in excellent shape. - @Leonid: I would have replied that I detected an excess of stereotypes about hip hop in your post, but I see that Socrates has effectively summarized it. What’s certain is that I'm not very familiar with the crowded scene, and my opinions about it are even less reliable than those regarding the pale faces. In short, I think you got it right (but whether with Disposable or alone, M.Franti has done excellent things, don't you think?)
