Rino Gaetano Sotto I Cieli Di Rino

@Dr. Fottermeier: ???? Well, the "story" of DeBaser includes much more thoughtful, comprehensive, and substantial examples than this. Anyway, yes, upon rereading it's quite confusing and a bit dull. - P.S. Anyone? Curious, for a while I navigated the pages of DeB as Mr. Nobody. I would have never imagined I could also be someone...

3rd: underrated, overrated: Rino Gaetano wrote and sang songs. Anyone who wants to attribute him other roles (the usual stereotype of the "counter" artist, the usual fluff of the "message," of superior or inferior dignity) should keep in mind that this is a personal interpretation of a journey, not the journey itself. Then, the evaluation we are talking about, by whom? By music critics? By sales charts? By "public opinion" in general? What seems evident to me, instead, is that any evaluation that tends to emphasize or mythologize an author, just as the opposite does, reduces everything to an issue almost of "team spirit" and effectively creates a mistification. It is clear that the overall work of F. De André is of a quality that is hard to dispute, but the worst thing is to treat it as an untouchable icon. Each album is a story in itself, and he too has created works that are less beautiful than others. Just as emphasizing R. Gaetano's otherness, the scarce visibility (all up for discussion; I listened to him from the beginning) and his presumed underappreciation does not help at all in understanding the quality, alternating and in progress (how it would have turned out, it seems to me, is really a question to leave to the sorcerer of Arcella) but only serves to evade a careful analysis of what we are given to hear. Songs, nothing but songs. In short, "reducing" the horizon of the conversation, removing it from the usual dynamics that lead to the usual dead ends, seems to me the only solution. After this little rant, I bid farewell and step away, having already entered the topic raised here several times and having expressed my opinion on Gaetano in other reviews. Bye.

Rino Gaetano's story seems to be an endless saga here on De Baser, resurfacing in the comments of every review dedicated to him. It seems to contain, such "story," also a sort of condensation of issues as old as time, generated by the usual misunderstandings. 1°- The need, or the eagerness, to create "rankings" of greatness. I think it's useless, detrimental, misleading, and specious if what interests us is to "analyze" or observe closely an author and his production. It seems useful to frame that production, both in relation to its history and the context in which it is created and expressed. If one insists on making rankings, it would still be wise to take those data into account. - 2° The alleged commerciality, the sold-out, etc.: As long as one avoids an obvious objective truth, namely that all musical production is in fact also a commercial product, private terms are rendered meaningless. Every musician has recorded albums within a commercial mechanism; every album has been recorded to sell. Every commercial success represents, in addition to a monetary enrichment, an increase in the musician's maneuverability within that mechanism. Then, if one believes that they can find, through listening, the true or alleged "sincerity" of the author's intentions, their true or alleged "honesty" is another matter, and it seems tainted by a presumption that, claiming the definitive criteria for such a judgment, starts off with both feet deeply sunk in the highly debatable realm of subjectivity.

Well, Psycho, observing the furious outburst of Poletti (back at it again these hours), I fear he would speak like this anyway, having given the impression multiple times (to dozens of users, it seems) of doing so even about things he doesn’t know. And the doubts about the meaning of such frenzy and eagerness to declare just keep increasing. - I’m also torn between this and Orange (this one maybe wins for me thanks to the "surprise effect"), but in no case would I give it the highest score.

I had missed this nice suggestion. I think I'll go look for it. Maybe we’ll catch up later (it will take a while, there are 36 tracks...)

Aunt, the hives will pass... Yes, in fact those old ones are the cause of the allergic reaction. But, I repeat, I don't think my tastes are that reliable and I still appreciate your way of describing records. In several cases, it has connected me with very enjoyable albums. (If I were you, I would be more concerned about Noriega's reactions... :) Bye.

I imagine you're a friend of the young lads. I really like the cover; the idea I've formed of the tracks from reading you is quite vague, despite the abundance of descriptions. It probably depends on the poor condition of my last neurons. Since the link to their website takes me to this page, why don't you complete the work by sending some samples? (to find out how, check the appropriate link in the card) - Campagna Samples 2006 - Hi.

Aunt, I always enjoy your reviews, but sometimes the albums you present, decidedly less. These, judging by what can be seen and heard on their website, I don’t think would last the journey station to station (at the first stop you get off) in my player. They've given me a slight rash. But I have terrible tastes…
AA.VV. On How A Picture Can Sound

Hi everyone. A quick clarification: the image is not from the cover, but from the home page of I Dischi della Lepre, because I wanted to highlight that space. Regarding Wanderer, I want to add that Sander's book collects the photographic portraits he created starting in the 1920s, in an attempt to outline a sort of portrait of German society by photographing individuals or groups of people that represented its professions, social classes, conditions, and customs. A monumental work interrupted by the advent of the Third Reich and the imprisonment of his son. He managed to save about 100,000 negatives, and the book features hundreds of beautiful portraits. For me, many years ago, it was a source of wonder, both for the discovery of such an ambitious project and for the quality of the photos. Even today, I find myself leafing through it with the same admiration. - To Ramona, I say that I prefer the first of the two, even though I don't particularly enjoy reveling in autumn mists. Wishing everyone a good day!
