I don't know if Happypippo was referring to Oliver when talking about Nelson. Well, I haven't read all the comments, but since we're at it, I'll mention a title I really loved. It's indeed by Oliver Nelson, and this is highly recommended as an approach to jazz, along with the titles I had already mentioned in some other review. It's titled "The Blues and the Abstract Truth," it's from '61, and it features Bill Evans, Roy Haynes, Eric Dolphy, Paul Chambers, and Freddie Hubbard. WHAT A DELIGHT.

Beautiful page, as usual. I'm getting it because it's been ages since I last listened to it (even though I have all the P.F. albums), and this solo and "intimate" version intrigues me. I also like the fact that, according to what you say and what can be heard on Myspace, he hasn’t tried to live off his past work. I also really liked his voice, which you describe quite well and which now seems unrecognizable... I don't know if you’ve had the chance to see him live; I have. I seem to remember it was the "Mirror Moves" tour: well, aside from many small "fluffs" throughout the concert, the last three songs before the encore were an absolute disaster. He was completely out of tune and trying to "find his way back" only made it worse. I felt embarrassed for him: but the concert, overall, went well and the enthusiastic audience didn’t seem to notice...

Nice review. - Ghemison, Emission Audio Output is really a whole different story. I liked this one quite a bit (3.5-4) and I think that, even though it sounds a bit "dated," you might enjoy it too. This reissue seems to confirm that Matador wants to definitely embrace electronics as well.

Hello to you, Contemplation: I have too many years and a lot of flaws to consider myself a TRUE lover of anything, but I do enjoy music. You may have noticed that the welcome has been warm, and in particular, your self-presentation has been greatly appreciated. So I’ll limit myself to one suggestion, if you’ll allow me: take careful note of everything and then, with the same accuracy, don’t give a damn. What I’ve read is an attempt to communicate the pleasure and enthusiasm of listening, with a detailed analysis. Yes, you might seem a bit "show-off", but if instead your intent and approach to things are that way, then who gives a damn about others' impressions? Aside from the introduction (a sort of own goal in such an arena), I liked your page. And now I’ll go get the record, as I had the LP and don’t have it anymore...

Ullapeppa, what are you pulling out. I promoted this quite a bit among the young customers when it came out, but now I vaguely remember it. Of course, I wouldn't be as generous as you with the rating, but I do know that at least a couple of tracks I liked a lot. I'd say a 3.5 - 4, come on. - Now I'm going to retrieve it, both physically and from the recesses of memory.

Yes, Flinnstone, I really have to explain everything to you: when I say dental floss, I'm referring to "mini minislips for women with a little string that goes between the cheeks." Now, though, I say goodbye (you crack me up imagining you trying to find a way to use REAL dental floss during your romantic meetings :))

Let's not exaggerate, Fidia. I bet your fantasy, shared by an army of men, comes true much more often than you think... And often when you least expect it. It happened to me for the first time as a teenager; they pretty much did everything. When they came out of the tent, I didn't even know what had happened. I was pretty high (so I connect back to the second part of the topic, Nick) but not enough to have imagined it... - To Flinstone, come on: mobbing was a playful way to "explain." Bye.
