It’s true, beautiful page. I’m also looking for this (even for the 4 of the Sfasciator Cortese: my regards, kind tritalamiere)

Listened to it. Well, yes, I mean... It has its charm, but I find it, in my opinion, far from the hyperboles you use, which had prepared me for a listening experience that I imagined would provide a greater richness of references and stimuli. Instead, it comes across as rather predictable, once the formula is understood, and it indulges quite a bit. Overall, it earns a solid 3. Much richer and more valid, for me, is another album that came to mind while listening to this: "Hermaphrodite" by Eric Copeland, released this year (one might argue about the little relevance, but I wouldn't bet on it). Anyway, thank you for the recommendation.

I also appreciate the approach to the subject and the style of your page, but while I agree with the premises, I cannot share the subsequent assessments. Therefore, in a dignified compromise of the work, I turn the 1.5 into a 2. And in the car, I listen to Vic Chestnut (4/4.5).

Well done, Vì! This is one of the best albums released this year, which I've also suggested in the comments of other jazz reviews, and it showcases a musician capable of a remarkably refined synthesis that allows the compositions to magically balance between lyricism and the almost imperceptible hints of free form in their structures. An album recommended even to those who don’t usually listen to the "genre." Despite the releases of some truly excellent works from pianists I've had the pleasure of listening to over the past two years, this one ranks among the highest peaks. And for once, I’m giving it a 5 too.

Perhaps they’re simply not the songs you expect from her, and you confuse the dish. One does not live by roast alone. To me, the album seemed very free, primarily from others’ expectations, and overall very valid, with some peaks and a consistently convincing average quality, even in terms of composition. I see that you also appreciate the undeniable elegance and effectiveness of the sounds and arrangements (sometimes perfect). If I had to quantify, I would say between 3 and 4. If this album deserved the score you assigned it, the majority of recent productions wouldn’t rise above zero. And certainly the last hardly noticeable one from Springsteen wouldn’t deserve the 3 stars you give it, but given its "car use," it would bring home a deserved 1. Different parameters, of course, for us. It happens.

And why do you doubt that "some other artist who participated" is not known? Is it because you don't know them? Well, that's a rather weak hint, don't you think? In the meantime, could you specify who these musicians are, since you’re at it? The album was released in 1996 and is now out of print in the Manifesto CD catalog. It wasn't bad, and it fell in line with dozens of similar productions, including international ones, that flooded the market during those years, witnessing a then-massive and quite unprecedented trend (in certain areas) of hybridizations between pop-rock or electronic matrices and those so-called ethnic ones. (such hybridization was already underway at the time in jazz and parafolk) - Yes, maybe a little more care for the text wouldn’t take too much of your time and would give us a more dignified page.

Some of the coordinates indicated in the review (I agree with azzo on "minor psychedelia") and by azzo in the comments don't seem very accurate to me (I don't find similarities with the Shamen, whom I know well), even though a hint of slight "pop psychedelia" is undoubtedly a defining element of the album, as is a sunny attitude and, in the arrangements and vocal intertwining at times, a vague reference to "Canterbury atmospheres," revised, corrected, and hybridized. This album certainly marks a clear turn compared to the previous one and those under the moniker Manitoba, and seems to indicate a path that could bear further fruit: the pop zone is risky, but Caribou demonstrates qualities and attitudes that allow him to avoid the swamp... - In this context, a certainly valid album, somewhere between 3.5 and 4.
