Howard Marks Mr. Nice

@ Psycho: could it be that the friend who told you about it is this one? 5 questions to Howard Marks - Lux - Recensione di I_lOVE_mUSIc
Maybe not, you weren't among the comments... - Anyway, the book was published by Socrates some time ago, I don't know how available it is today. The guy is quite a clever one.

For the series "...the line 'I remember that...' like those in 'number 1' in Alan Ford" :))

Songs to Remember is a great album, and it has never bored me (I've had it since it was released and I occasionally revisit it). It was, in fact, a real surprise at the time, such a record so detached from everything else that was going on. And it contains at least a couple of phenomenal songs. A couple of years later, I spent some time in a squat in Camden Town, but we never crossed paths (our place was on three floors, crowded and cosmopolitan, but always clean: maybe a spot could have been found for them...)

No, Memento, it's not pointless to mention a piece: in fact, among those you mention, there's one of my favorite little songs from the first half of that decade, "Stolen Kisses." And as for the album, for me it's not at all "a step back from the past," quite the opposite. I still must have the vinyl of this somewhere: tonight "Stolen Kisses" on loop! Happy New Year for 2009!

Dear PIT, type "Tool" in the top right space and read some reviews: take advantage of the many opportunities on DeBaser..

Very young Pit, welcome to DeB. And since I've noticed some users going to great lengths with suggestions and corrections, I'll post one too: if someone starts pontificating on how reviews should be written, in a ridiculously paternalistic tone, and then writes "...even though I don't EXCEL as a reviewer," feel free to have a good laugh.

And also of your beloved Byrds, Don (in "Squatter's Rights" I think there are 2 pieces..)

Alia76, I imagine that, in addition to the qualities you have well described in this work by Meshell, you also appreciated the fact that you discovered that atypical (and wonderful, for me) piece by Hendrix... If you're curious, you can listen to another cover, very different, of "Maybe This Love". You can find it in an E.P. by Thin White Rope, all covers. It seems to be titled "Squatter’s Rights" and contains, among other things, a dusty cover of Ellington's "Caravan," as well as a remake of a piece by Avion Travel... I don’t know if it has ever been released on CD; I only have the vinyl, but it’s probably available online. Sorry if I've strayed from the theme of the page, but I find the connections encountered while traveling through discographies interesting. - To get back to the point, I feel like suggesting that you follow the entire journey of the girl up to her latest work, which is very interesting although decidedly "distant" from this: "The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams," released in 2007. The title itself is a little gem, and the music lives up to her stage name (which means "Free as a Bird"), demonstrating further exploration of sounds and arrangements, so the album turns out to be significantly different from the previous one once again. Read DePosta. Bye.
