It's not overly annoying, despite the evident effort.
Nice note on the shifts in metric, but they seem to me, at a quick listen, rather limited and harmless.
The unresolved question, as far as I'm concerned, is how much I can grant to a young lad who wants to say something and does so in song format, updating it with moderation and undeniable attention to style.
