I hadn't read this.. I'm posting here the comment I left on another one about the same movie, because, strangely enough, even after some time, I still agree with myself.. "...the element that seemed most significant to me, and that characterizes the very essence of the director's operation, is the use of all the stylistic elements of hugely successful Indian cinema, the typical Bollywood films whose stories are practically identical, with minimal variations on the eternal theme of love thwarted by events, triumphing only after taking victims and enduring the inevitable ordeal of adverse situations. Based on this framework, the film makes measured and decisive interventions, balancing respect and parody, and manages to function on multiple levels. Boyle spares us the dance sequences, which generally appear several times in longer Indian genre films, but brings them back at the end, with the credits and the choreography between the tracks. Another fundamental element, related to the construction of the narrative (which is set up almost like a moral operetta and seems to have escaped your notice), is quite evident and also emphasized by a couple of lines from the protagonist (the young actor is excellent): for every correct answer, the boy has paid a very high price. They are made possible, in fact, only by the experiences of his existence, and with each answer corresponds an event marked by the loss of things very important to him ("I wish I hadn't known the answer," he says at a certain point, or something similar): his mother, the autographed photo of his favorite actor (the image of the boy covered in shit running and screaming towards his idol is wonderful) up to the loss of his brother, which somehow makes the final triumph possible. I was quite biased, and I am not a Boyle fan, but I had to change my mind. I fear, however, that if one does not grasp the essence of the film's ironic "cannibalization" of Indian cinema, a good part of the references and richness of the film will be lost. The soundtrack is perfect, also enjoyable on its own.. 7.5

Well, in fact there is no crowd here. Regarding the film, which in Italy is titled "The Lemon Tree," I would express less enthusiasm than you, although I really appreciate the lead actress. A certain lightness of touch and formal care do not fully save it from an overall structure marked by a rhetoric of scaled-down symbolisms (like "the conflict in the garden") that often brushes against banality or excessive simplification. Certainly not a bad film, but for my tastes, it's a moral operetta that's too didactic, too "explained." A 6.5, let's round it to 7-, for that gaze...

This is a good album. The one before was a good album, and very different from the one even earlier, just like this one. This is a group that publishes works that have a soul and it's rare that you won’t want to listen to them again. And by listening to them again, one can trace a very high average quality compared to the tide of stuff that’s going around. There are few groups like this. Over time, I appreciate them more and more. 4+ for the album and for them. - P.S. I've known Piero for 40 years and I believe he doesn't seek in music what interests me: the music.
