Younger Brother The Last Days Of Gravity

@YOSIF: regarding track 2, "All I Want", I was re-listening to the album and I think the voice you hear at the beginning is Salvador Dalí's, describing his famous "paranoid-critical" method in a somewhat quirky English. I overlooked this at the time, but I believe I'm not mistaken. And there are some references to his painting at the bottom of the artwork as well... - @MADCAT: I think that, all things considered, you wouldn’t dislike this too much. Read the DePosta.

No, the highest marks, no. A good album, which I must admit surprised me with its overall quality, characterized by the eclecticism you've noted. But a solid four seems more than sufficient, considering that this is a work that draws on very well-trodden solutions from dozens of similar and previous productions, even if with undeniable skill. Strange that, after this, they haven't released anything else, as far as I know... Nice page.

Hey there, look who it is!! Hi, ZiOn. Everything good? I put it back on just a little while ago after reading your thoughts, and I have to say, I don't dislike it, but I'm much less convinced than when it first came out... Probably also because of the usual sonic saturation, too much stuff. Bye!

I always appreciate when attention is drawn to this musician, and once again, in this case, the perspective from which he is described is very subjective. It is not his album that I prefer, as I hold onto an old infatuation for "Another Thought." I repeat here what I may have already said in other pages dedicated to Russell: those who have had the chance to know him have spoken of him in admiring tones. Both regarding his incredibly open approach to music and his personality. These are things that, at times, can also be felt through the records. - Between 3.5 and 4.

Don't get worked up like that, TWIGGYTRACE, it's not worth it. I'm not indie, maybe I'm a bit snobbish, can I leave a comment? I don’t really feel this resemblance to U2, perhaps I'm hard of hearing, it happens after listening to music for over thirty years... And for me, that's a good thing (not the tired hearing, but the distance from the Irish band). And, also due to my personal taste, I prefer the first album to this one. Not because there's an edict that dictates preferring early works for being more "sincere": simply because the songs sound better to me, more effective, fresh, and bright as we hadn’t heard in a while back then. - If you don't get upset, I would suggest a hypothesis: this insistence of yours, condensed in your phrase "..Coldplay took from U2's music and elaborated it in their own way" might stem from the fact that you haven't listened to enough music to "hear" many other "similarities" (which exist, as in almost all albums, especially "pop") with hundreds of things that came before? I mean, if they remind you of U2, that's fine, it happens. That they MUST remind others too, well, frankly, that's a bit laughable. And I recommend you relax. Maybe put on the first one and enjoy some quiet time. Bye.

I had the vinyl of this, in distant and different times. I remember I liked it, just as I like this effective page, even in its closing that evokes the role of the space we call silence, a space in which sound imposes its humble yet lush richness.

I've never heard them, nor will I listen to this, but the page emanates love for music and a certain way of living it. And love is beautiful.

Geb, do you have "Out There"? Because that's also a great album, and it was their debut...
