But sound quality in what sense? No, because we are not talking about a novice recording haphazardly (he’s someone who criticized Frank Zappa for playing sloppily). This link is interesting: intervista a Joseph Byrd
Peter Weir L'Attimo Fuggente

Maybe I have a weakness for Weir, maybe having seen it much later I must have missed part of the polemical evolutions (like those that have led to Tarantino or Von Trier going from absolute geniuses who would revolutionize cinema to overcooked & irritating without middle ground, no matter what they do), but I’ve never understood the animosity many have against this film. Perhaps it’s not the best of the Australian’s (my favorites are Picnic and The Last Wave), but it certainly doesn’t seem like trash to me, quite the opposite. Beautiful and engaging, photographed amazingly as usual.

Great, and great also the music of Paul Williams (the legendary Suàn) that I discovered thanks to this De Palma film. I haven't seen it in a while, and I would definitely watch it again very gladly. As Randolph says, it’s baroque and aesthetic (the direction with wide angles and various tricks is the closest thing to A Clockwork Orange that I remember), but there is also a fierce critique of the entire music world.

One of the best films of the last ten years, despite the title. But is it just my impression or in this decade many of the best films feature a non-linear montage of scenes? There is a real explosion in this sense: the latest Lynch, Memento, 21 Grams, Eternal Sunshine, Mind Game, Donnie Darko, Millennium Actress...

I'm sorry there are so few comments, but it happens, not for lack of merit. I've only seen Singin' in the Rain by Donen, and I remember thinking I was going to watch something silly ("can a musical really be good?" I thought something like that), only to find myself in front of an intelligent, fresh film full of ideas, super fast-paced, and entertaining. Plus, there's Hepburn in it; it's needless to say it's one of the next films I'll watch.

Beautiful, even though I wouldn't know how to rate it. Surely it's a difficult and demanding film, not something you watch for a relaxed evening. I too might prefer working-class themes, but we're there: still, an enormous performance by Volontè, what a wonderful actor. I agree with Zion that you could have thrown in a little quote for one of Morricone's most memorable themes...

But you see, Trell, I didn’t even take it personally; I commented with the usual spirit I have. To the elegant anonymous, I'd like to remind you that 1. mine was sarcasm 2. that I have nothing against anonymity and you might even be right, but by shitting on Bittar anonymously while being a moralist, you choose a risky position. Among the two litigants, as a third party, you might enjoy it, but you're also a real piece of work.

eh-eh-eh-eh, dear Dave, "asshole" isn't a word that a pacifist should use. I didn't insult you, and you're calling me an asshole? So you're a warmongering punk! The comment you cut means exactly the same thing I stated; where's the inconsistency? Maybe you don't prefer it, and you find it disgusting as well, but if you rate that record a 5 and overlook the low quality of the voice, you can't use the fact that the voice is bad as a reason to give a low score to Morphine (regardless of all other considerations)! And if you say it’s not bad, but you just don’t like it, that means for you THEN THE VOICE MATTERS, and therefore you like the voice from the ballet! It's logic, Dave, there's no escaping it. Anyway, this discussion is getting more and more interesting.

>>>The bronze ballet has nothing to do with it, for example.<<< I'm quoting what I wrote above, maybe you missed it: "No, you say that you don't like Morphine because you don't like Sandman's voice. Damn, I can understand that, but then if you give a 5 to the ballet it means you're overlooking the quality of the voice, so you should do the same here. Or the other possibility is that you prefer Leone's voice, and then it becomes serious." As you can see, it matters. I didn't say I adore Leone's voice; I wrote what's above.
