Psycho I was about to respond to you but I realized I would start a very long discussion that had nothing to do with this review, and then I'm about to leave... too long and complex the discussion, but there’s no page on debaser for these things, a chat, I don't know... well given your nickname maybe a mental ramble can be tackled, what do you think?

Psycho, I was about to reply to you but I realized that aside from that, I would have launched into a very long speech that had nothing to do with this review, and then I'm about to head out... the topic is too long and complex, but there’s no page on debaser for these things, a chat, I don’t know...

You're right about one thing: I could mind my own business, leaving you among adoring fans to "suck each other off," to quote Pulp Fiction, but I'm a naive progressive who thinks that discussion might lead to something... but there's little to be done with fanaticism.

That said (these stadium dramas annoy me a bit), it’s not just Scaruffi, (whom I must remind you has an astonishing culture that would make Umberto Eco envious: you may not share his ideas, but at least he doesn’t write ā€œLong live the Velvet Underground!!!ā€), but also Lester Bangs, who is considered the greatest rock critic of all time, and many others, including myself. Then I’m really sorry if I offended you; you feel emotions listening to Queen, but if you were to remove your blinders and start listening to music for the joy of learning something rather than just to claim that the band you listen to is the best. Ah: the chords of Heroin are 2; we hope that the value of a song is not judged by the number of chords. Now forgive my pedantry, but since we’re on the topic: the Velvets were influenced by the minimalism of La Monte Young and Terry Riley, a genre that consists of the repetition of a few simple sound patterns to create a state similar to trance, as found in certain Indian music. The noise of the song simulates the trip caused by heroin. The lyrics of Heroin are considered by many—not just Scaruffi—one of the most brilliant and moving examples of American poetry (the lyrics of Queen, and I take responsibility for saying this, are exalted, narcissistic, and fascistoid). You are completely free to think otherwise, but shooting down comments by saying ā€œLong live Queenā€ makes you look foolish (I’m not saying that you are).

Look, if the talk is at the level of W i Queen, I’ll add "Forza Inteeeer!" I can put even more "e" in Inter, if you want. Long live adolescence.

I just read the review of Radici where Grassopher essentially says the same things about PierFarri, but even though a certain improvement is undeniable in the arrangements of the albums following the 70s, I still think there is a huge gap with the best names in international songwriting, like Tom Waits, Tim Buckley, Nick Cave, Smog, Lisa Germano, Joni Mitchell. Well, I know, it's just a hair-splitting argument ;) I’m off to eat.

I also prefer the intimate side of Guccini, the one from Via Paolo Fabbri and Stanze (the album torn apart by Bertoncelli), that of "canzone di notte 2," "canzone quasi d'amore," "canzone per Piero," to be clear. I continue to think that as a musician, Guccio doesn't amount to much, and the first supporter of this thesis is precisely him, as he has always stated that music for him is just a simple background for the lyrics, and this background often didn't even please him. For years, in fact, he entrusted (reluctantly, I imagine he said nothing for the sake of peace) the musical part to Pierfarri, who once asked Tavolazzi to play the bass line "more yellow" to understand the character.

The truth is that everyone, for better or for worse, does it for money!!! Otherwise, they wouldn't have signed contracts with record labels, etc.!

Look, you really misunderstood: to give you an example, I've adored Kubrick's films since I was a kid, but I mean a really little kid, and nobody cared about him except cinephiles and industry magazines. Now that he’s gone, whether it’s because "Eyes Wide Shut" had a scandalous orgy scene or because Cruise and Kidman were in it, the fact is that now everyone knows him. Do you think this makes me like his films any less? And about the fact that I commented on Queen: I saw your comment about how all bands make music to sell, and I believe, in fact, I’m sure that it’s not exactly like that; I think these bands deserve credit for trying to create art. Then, Debaser as a site is really an opportunity for discussion, and the beautiful thing is that there are such different people: one can always learn something. For example, I’m digging through reviews of various genres to find some albums that interest me even in genres I haven’t explored. But I believe, without false modesty, I can express my opinion; this doesn’t mean I feel particularly cool because I know the Faust, which I don’t think would impress any girl, I believe... ah, a track like "Sister Ray" by the Velvet, which SO MANY consider one of the absolute masterpieces of the 20th century, regardless of whether we’re talking about classical, jazz, or rock, is fundamental for me. If I were as snobbish as you say, I should set sail for other shores...
