The Valley of the Temples I have, it's nice but it doesn’t excite me. I’ve already told you about the ballet; looking around, you hear comments like "the greatest Italian prog album of all time," (one site ranks it above A Love Supreme!), and when I listened to it, it was a huge disappointment... I don’t love the Genesis-style flash-rock of Pfm, and... nooo, the Concerto Grosso by New Trolls, noooo... However, you’ve intrigued me about Il Rovescio della Medaglia and Biglietto per l'inferno, how are they? I’ve never even heard of Gli Albergo Intergalattico Spaziale, but from the name, they sound like a weapon from Mazinger...

But do you know that Areazione is the only one I'm missing? And to think I also have that useless Tic and Tac, the gurgles of Metrodora, Concert at the Elf, and singing the voice of Stratos. How is it, how is it?

For me, the best Italian song is Emilia Paranoica.

I don't know Arti e mestieri, even though I've heard a lot of good things about it; I'm not yet very knowledgeable in prog italico: I have the Perigeo, which are much lesser than Area, Pholas Dactylus (well… neither here nor there), Aria by Alan Sorrenti, and the first one by Rocchi is nice. I was curious to hear the Canzoniere del Lazio. What do you recommend, sir? About Maledetti: it's true, it's more varied (among other things, not all of them host Lacy and Benedetti Michelangeli on the same album), but I find Diforisma and Girotondo, even if they take their time (and Diforisma has some incredible syncopations), to be just excellent funky-jazz jams; I might prefer Luglio Agosto Settembre or the great L'Abbattimento della Zeppola. The wind told me that MO-RI-ROOOOooooo...

Great album, but I prefer Arbeit. Definitely the best in Italy between prog and jazz-rock (I find the great masterpiece of Balletto di Bronzo to be an naive album that feels the weight of the years; maybe better the Picchio dal pozzo) And the CCCP as a candidate for the best Italian band aren't bad at all, in my opinion.

The number of reviews on DeBaser confirms that this album is already part of history?

Tell me, do they give away a teddy bear at the tenth review of the same album?

After long contemplation, I think I can endorse the opinion of the illustrious Zion when he says: BASTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAA

At this point, I feel compelled to listen to Queen 2... Anyway, I know the lyrics to We Are the Champions as well as countless other Queen songs, and I remember discussions with friends where I argued that Queen was the greatest rock band of all time. My favorite band. However, I haven't listened to as much, not as much as fans who have everything, for sure: A Night at the Opera, Jazz, Innuendo, some live recordings (I got Live at Wembley '86 in Ireland), the 2 Greatest Hits, various VHS tapes... I know Mercury's story, having read several books and biographies (but don't ask me which, it's been a long time!). The story about fascism is broader and includes the character: Bangs spoke of "hedonistic fascism," of the concert becoming a pure celebration of the "cult of personality" of the idol of the moment, and for Mercury, that description fits perfectly: he could step out on stage with a scepter and crown! We still have different views on modern art and technique (I wrote some things about it in my reviews of Dream Theater, if you're interested), but I don’t think we'll ever agree... at least we had a bit of a chat.

Innuendo, I appreciated your tone in the discussion, and indeed I wasn't addressing you... it annoyed me to read the post that I now understand is anonymous and I initially attributed to Fiammy, and clearly the point I made falls apart. I apologize for calling her a fool, but I did so because it seemed childish to argue with "Long live the Queen." I also clarify that I did not intend to create this controversy; I came here simply because I acknowledge some musicians who have prioritized art over any sales chart. I did not express judgments on Queen 2, which I do not know, but I spoke about the Queen I am familiar with as a group. I’m sorry at this point to bore you, because a review of the Queen has turned into a trial of the Velvet that was only mentioned marginally: however, at this point I am involved, so let’s dance...
"Heroin" is a song far from heroic. As Reed himself said, it’s not even an encouragement to use drugs: it’s a commentary on contemporary reality, seen through the eyes of someone who has lived certain traumas, and who does not condemn the heroin addict but understands the need to escape from an absurd reality, describing with simple and direct language the feelings and malaise shared by a social class, those "losers" that Mercury didn't care for much (isn’t that "fascism and empty machismo" in "no time for losers?" or "We are the Princes of the universe?"), without false rhetoric or sentimentality: the protagonist is not a hero, and that "just don't care," "I don't give a damn," alone measures the sincerity and the commonness of a generation grown up without moral values to cling to, too aware to rely on religion and too weak to overcome that nihilism and desperate will for self-destruction. This alone is enough to make it an extremely poetic and timely piece in my eyes, beyond the pompous hermeticism of much contemporary poetry. The music of such a piece is clearly not fun, but to use a term you employed, "heartbreaking." Then, if you "don't want to die of boredom" listening to it, that's completely fair, and I also listen to lighter music, but to label this piece as trivial I find a bit... rash. I also understand that Scaruffi rubs many people the wrong way; I acknowledge that he puts his thoughts first... which I often do not share, but to quote Voltaire, "I do not agree with his opinion but I will do everything to ensure he can express it," and his perspective is quite out of tune. I would like to continue, but I’ve probably already bored you enough. If you’ve made it this far, I invite you for ice cream.
