Francesco De Gregori Bufalo Bill
Voto:
Listen up, it’s a killer record but it’s not Beethoven’s Ninth or Kind of Blue, no need to drag it out... and stop pretending to be the anonymous reviewer you are, I know it’s you.

Hilarious. I can't find it anymore, and I won't vote for it, but between the herd's delirium and the ending of "il cielo in una stanza" with the car crashing and exploding on a country bend, this record had me rolling on the floor laughing.

beautiful review, beautiful record. I don't like everything at the same level, but the beauty of Atlantide and the absolute brilliance of the lyrics of Buffalo Bill, which reveal who the protagonist is in the end, would be worth the album on their own. Adding to that, there are also other songs like L'uccisione di Babbo Natale and Santa Lucia, resulting in a great album. I really like the rough production of de Gregori's first album as well, which adds a vintage charm. Great album.
Fabrizio De André Vol. 8
Voto:
Jim, do you prefer this or the debut of The Doors? And if you prefer that one, do you give it a 6? It's just a number, my vote. I really like the album, and it's one of my favorites by De André, but there are albums by other artists that I like more. That's all :)

Apparently, Volume 8 has been very little appreciated. How strange... I don't know, but it's one of my favorite De André albums, along with Creuza and Anime Salve. The bare acoustic outfit and the poetic lightness of De Gregori give it a lot of charm. For once, away from the themes of the humble and the defeated and the pathos of those subjects, it is indeed immersed in that fairy-tale and timeless aura of early De Gregori. If I have to choose among many gems, even before Nancy, Giugno 73, and Amico fragile, I really like Le storie di Ieri, which in this album is absolutely stunning (better than the original, in my opinion). On one point I disagree with Grass: I prefer the more sober version of Amico fragile from this album to the forced (and somewhat banal, come on, allow me that) solos of Mussida. De André himself, with great humility, seemed to say that, so to speak, PFM had put a miniskirt on his songs, but that it was better to see a long skirt than to see crooked legs. If only we had crooked legs like that, clearly :)

Enè, don't sully these pages with such things. The engineering profession is already widely ridiculed; have a little decency, as I hear you saying everything. Compose yourself, otherwise I’ll start calling you Enelthedevil.

less sheepish, you’ve really got into my head... I’ll take out the Cirio peeled tomatoes and put in "Attitude Dance" by Tower of Power, that’ll make it less sheepish already. And the bassist from Jamiroquai is a God, listen to the latest song and tell me if he’s not a God.

And goodness gracious, why can't we start a new line in posts, little friends?

Hey, what do you want, the ranking of stuff that entertains me but not too much and "a bit commercial, come on"?! You're impossible. Look, if this works for you:
Yanni - the music of the baldies cirio
Vangelis - Chariots of Fire (Finally!)
Aretha Franklin - Think
Stanley Clarke - the solo from School Days
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away
Pearl Jam - Spin the Black Circle
Pixies - Broken Face
Neurosis - Locust Star
Uncle Tupelo - Moonshiner
Ah! You'll like this one, it's really commercial: Mr. Jones, Counting Crows
And this one: Steve Vai - Juice
And this? Jamiroquai - Space Cowboy
And this? REM - Bad Day
And where do we leave Einaudi's waves?
And Paradise City by Guns?

Mr, do you want real blood? But at the very least, you have to get yourself a bit dirty too, huh? :)
