Francesco De Gregori De Gregori
Voto:
I agree with Enea this time. Whether it's politicization or not, I think De Gregori has lost a lot; it's not a matter of knowing how to look for it or not. Many of us here know his entire discography. He has lost a lot, and more than in his writing ability, he has lost in music, where he replaced those raw yet uniquely fairytale-like arrangements with sloppy, derivative rock. And above all, he has progressively lost the ability to remain dry and not give in to sentimentality, as he gradually did after his earliest works. Then those who approach his music at the beginning prefer to hear "Sempre per sempre," or "La donna cannone," or the cuoco di Salò; personally, I believe that much less emo but also less cloying pieces are worth so much more.

and he has duetted with Al di Meola (who in truth would duet even with the guys on the beach with a guitar, just to show that he is faster)

Mmm, rather than resembling Jim Morrison, I would say the singer is a cross between Lou Reed and Jerry Garcia. With a bit of Nilla Pizzi.

Punisher, lately you’ve been turning into a self-punisher, do you know that? Or do you think the Pooh can come within 150 meters of my house?

The review is nice. I only know Surrender from them. I liked the video and downloaded it to "test" it out better. But on the first listen away from the video, it lost some impact. A nice melody, nice voice, but nothing else. Run-of-the-mill pop. So I'm skeptical, especially since from what I understand, they haven't changed direction. But the video was beautiful :)
Francesco De Gregori Alice non lo sa
Voto:
No. It's one of the most beautiful albums in Italian singer-songwriter history, and you dismiss it in two lines, where you merely state that 1940 "speaks of France occupied by Nazi troops during World War II"? A bit didactic... Furthermore, here the instrumental flaws matter little; what counts is the poetry of De Gregori's images, the exquisitely refined and absolutely new and original language for Italian singer-songwriters. Not even a hint at that? Keep in mind that 1940, Le strade di lei, Suonatori di flauto, Buonanotte fratello (a piece that deserves a review on its own), and La casa di Hilde are among the finest in Italian music.

I'm almost in agreement with Mario about the film; if it’s not the greatest, it’s definitely the most ambitious movie of the '90s. The soundtrack is great as a score. As an album, mmmhh. Mmmh.

Let me explain: still as an ignorant, in the little Italian hip hop I know, the lyrics are all directed at people who have wronged someone for some reason that made one dude argue with the girl from the other, and stuff like that, and if you're not from that scene, you don't understand a thing... :)
