voiceface, not to be picky (actually, yes, to be), but before saying that Waits knows nothing about Tarantella, you should listen to a certain piece from Rain Dogs;)

this I miss, I would have liked to learn more. Did the Perigeo also do symphonic rock?

Let's say that since the discussion had already taken place, I thought you were referring to me and someone else. I probably misunderstood, I'm sorry. Let me explain my view on the album: I don't consider it a masterpiece because I've always found it a bit clever in pairing such aristocratic and self-satisfied lyrics, which sound to me like "I know this and that," with music that I remember as rather bland. But in the end, it's not the arrangements that bother me, given that in Italy we have a tradition of great singer-songwriters with a "punk" approach to music, I learn the major, the minor, and record an album (and Battiato is certainly not among these, yet...); it's the lyrics of this album that invariably sound to me like "look how good I am, look how cultured I am." But it's been a long time since I last listened to it. I'll give it another listen :)

Voiceface, my comment was referring to what Primiballi said here and in the other review, it's that we practically wrote together and that "I don't agree" seemed to refer to your post :)

I don't agree. I listen to music, I'm not a historian; I listen to the music I like, and I couldn't care less about its historical significance. When I listen to a piece, I enjoy an arrangement, a lyric, a solo, the atmosphere, the sounds. What do I care if something I don't like is the first or second of its kind: in the end (and after the listen), innovation is as important as the singer's breath to me. If I listen to a record like **Forse le lucciole non si amano più** by La Locanda delle Fate from 1977, in the year of our Lord 2006, when prog in Italy had already been squeezed like a lemon, I like it a lot, much more than a sea of crappy records that came before and were "innovative".
I'll listen to **La voce del padrone** again, because I feel like hearing Battiato and discovering the much I don't know. But what I've said about the record in the other review still stands, and like others, I find it a very overrated album.

Yeah, it was obvious, you know. But I was scared anyway.

And then what do you want, you also didn't give him a 5, oh! :D

Does nobody really think so????? :D I'm a little shaken.

"the other up there" replies that you are free to think as you like. But yours was clearly a provocative statement, given that you had already said the same things about the other review. So, not liking this album, I was wondering which category I fit into, considering your somewhat simplistic either/or. That I wasn't there is irrelevant, since the albums I like the most are from ten years earlier. So I have the other one left, according to you.

primiballi, I'm not trying to start a debate, but you might want to keep your opinions about people who see things differently to yourself. No offense.
