I wonder why I wrote "Strafare" with a capital letter. "Strafare con la voce," the posthumous album by Demetrio Stratos.

I agree with this guy above me, it's a very nice album but Sorrenti tends to overdo it a bit with his voice. I take off a point for the most ridiculous line of the seventies, from a totally out-there hippie: "that rock loves you" from "un fiume tranquillo," I laugh every time I hear it. Anyway, I don't see the comparison with the Vdgg as that far-fetched...

Look, maybe our ordinary nickname ('nzomma) gives him deplorable listens :D
Francesco Guccini & i Nomadi Album concerto

I really don't like it, sorry... in Guccini's discography, for me, Opera Buffa (which is at least entertaining, even if useless) and Ritratti are the worst episodes. As for the Nomadi, I don't know, I just can't stand them.

let's not kid ourselves. Black star/far beyond the sun: classic themes revisited terribly, and then long minutes of nothing at absurd speeds. And by the way, it's not an achievement to have created neoclassical metal. Whenever we go to the bathroom, we create something artistically equivalent to neoclassical metal.

Pulling by the hair? It's not something I just made up that Bark Psychosis takes a lot from the dynamics and sounds of Talk Talk; I see it as quite obvious. As for Labradford (who I find very close to BP), tracks like Pico would fit nicely on an Spirit of Eden, and they also share that kind of sensitivity and atmosphere. Just opinions, of course, but the point is I wanted to point out to Easy (who says that Bark Psychosis is great and for him the greatness of a band largely depends on its originality) that Hex draws heavily from the past, and if we want to be honest, it’s not even particularly original. That said, I think it's an amazing album.
Regarding the coolness of Dream Theater, you misunderstood; let's just say that instead of lukewarm, they are a bit chilly, and as you can see, we somewhat agree on that. We just need ratings for temperature to appear on debaser ;). But that’s not the point: I was saying that for me, a band being cold is not a flaw; you don't have to be sweating like Springsteen to make good music.
You seem to appreciate post-rock: would you say it’s a flaw of Slint that they are cold/icy? I (like you, I think) believe that it’s one of the characteristics that makes them so great, on the contrary. Am I wrong?

A note on what ngw says: among the many criticisms that can be made of Dream Theater, the one about coldness doesn’t hold much weight. I’m not a big fan of Dream Theater, but they don’t seem like such a cold band to me. Tepid, I’d say :) And then warm-cold is a qualitative distinction that makes sense at the faucet when you’re taking a shower, much less so in music. Look at post-rock, a genre that has given rise to great bands, one of the coldest genres out there (with some exceptions). To finish, I agree on the value of Bark Psychosis (you can see for yourself what I think in my review of their album) and the fact that it isn’t music made to sell. That doesn’t change the fact that THIS album is not a one-star garbage. A little provocation: since Talk Talk was doing this kind of stuff before, should bands like B.P or Labradford be worth little because they are not very original?

1. It's easy, if you reread my comment you'll see that I wrote, "I believe that while innovation is certainly a value, balance and expressive maturity are values as well, which 'pioneers' often lack. It's a concept that I apply (with moderation) to this album as well." If you replace the word innovation with "originality," the meaning of the discussion remains the same.
2. And anyway, I didn't understand the distinction you make between originality and innovation. In fact, I tend to see them as equivalent concepts. What differences do you see?

Fidia, but look, I brought up Lou Reed not to make comparisons, but because I needed an example for the discussion that pertains to this album. Just a reminder that there are various reviews and comments about it. If you have thoughts on the album, bring them up too, right? What do you think we are commenting on? :)
