Led Zeppelin The Song Remains The Same
Voto:
Mmm, I think the DVD is hilarious; those ’70s special effects are just too ridiculous. But whoever put that introduction with Jimmy Page with red eyes, Plant looking like a pedophile, and Jones dressed as a woman must have gone overboard. I don’t know with what, but it must have been something good.

it's not a review but I liked it a lot. How beautiful is the legless run in the first part of little red, which is also my favorite. And then, it's hard to add anything to the infinity of things that have been written. I've been listening to it for years, without getting tired. I unconditionally love this man, who, when he woke up, told his mother "don’t worry, I've always been lazy." My idea of a perfect album, even though I know Antimo doesn't agree ;)
Album rated 6.
Soft Machine Volume One
Voto:
Usually, with Openmind and Lewis, we find common ground :) This time, I'm not entirely in agreement. The beginning of Hope for Happiness is beautiful, and So Boot If at All is nice too. For the rest, I find it far inferior to the second and third. It seems to have been produced in a rush, and I know that the Soft Machine themselves were completely dissatisfied, precisely because they didn't have the opportunity and time to work on it longer.

An epidemic of babbidiminchia, probably Fidia.

Wow. Welcome back in black, Mr. Odradek, with this beautiful and very interesting review of Gandalf. I will definitely delve deeper :)
Swans White Light From the Mouth of Infinity

Look, Lewis, it wasn't even about the fear of interrupting. At some point, the audience probably realized that there was no need to clap, because the band wasn't playing for applause. Or maybe they were all just in a trance for half an hour. Afterward, you catch your breath a bit, but before that, it’s incredible. If you like them, it's a must-have video. And you should be able to find it fairly easily.

I have boundless admiration for them. I give you 5 just for this sentence: "This group truly deserved the golden palm of the Olympus of the Truest Music." I recently watched a video of one of their live performances, it's called "long screw." For at least half an hour, the audience doesn't applaud, they remain still. It's not a concert, it's a ritual. I've never seen anything more intense, truly. If you haven't seen it, get it.

Well, yes Nobody, I went out on the 5th. And I would do it again. In fact, I’ll tell you more: for me from 5 there are also For respect and what burns (and I still don’t have Storm and stress). Maybe it’s because I’ve only known them for two years, but I’m still in love with them. When the love fades, I’ll see their flaws too, for now, they’re one of those bands that I regret not having discovered earlier. It could also be the fact that they are full of languid psychedelia, ethereal post-rock, and depressed singer-songwriters. They sound incredibly fierce and incredibly smart, and with the story that they don’t do solos, they want to make people believe (kidding themselves) that they’re not full of themselves. Practically the best. They even give silly titles to their songs, they don’t have the sad face typical of post-rock which seems obligatory in the genre, what more could you want from life?
Seriously, and aside from the value of their records, as musicians they seem unreachable to me, far superior to Slint and company (imho I repeat, and Pajo is not the last of the idiots), for what I know they have really invented a way of playing. Maybe there’s better out there, since your experience is surely superior to mine, you could also share your knowledge :)
I’ve only heard half of a Fluxus CD that a friend lent me once. I’m still missing the other half, not because they were bad, on the contrary. Then I returned them without copying them because, as you know well, it’s against the law to copy CDs. Maybe it’s also a sin. But from that very faded memory, I remember more of the classic noise, rather than sounds like Doncaballero...who knows.
I’m interested in hearing more about the Bellinis, am I wrong or was the drummer from Don there too? Enlighten me.
Giorgio Gaber La mia generazione ha perso
Voto:
oh luk! I didn't know you were a fan of Mr. G :) How to put it? It seems to me that for Gaber, music is just an excuse. His records are political, philosophical, and sociological reflections. His performances are political rallies. Music is hardly relevant. And my doubt is that the essence of it all lies in the strength of the rhetoric and Gaber's interpretations, much more than in the message itself.
My criticism is purely musical, though, and depending on what you have to say, I think the medium matters. Just like politicians running for office can’t say what they really think on television because how they present themselves and the applause matter more than the content, it seems to me that Gaber has chosen the wrong medium to talk about certain topics. I really appreciate the ideas; the music (which in the end is what we're discussing) not at all. A difficult conversation...

that painting does not require culture just as music does not exist. "the sky is blue, the clouds are gray and the grass is green." But many painters depict the sky as red, the clouds as green, and the grass as yellow. Not to mention cubism, abstraction, action painting, or any artistic movement. Emanuele, I am very interested in your beautiful response to what Goto said. Personally, I agree with every single word.
