from the most paradisiacal record (that of harold budd) to the most infernal one. Absolutely perfect review. I find it very true that even the most extreme metal can be, all in all, reassuring compared to the Swans, who from filth to the young god era are truly of an unbounded violence. The difference is that Angel of death is, despite everything, a fun piece; even Neurosis come across as moderate by comparison. The Swans never "entertain," at least on their early records. And they are never gratuitous in their extremism. I have the cop along with the ep; with the ep I would rate it a 5, just the cop alone a 4. I would change the opening of the review from "Cazzo, but what was so heavy and oppressive sounding in '84?" to "Cazzo, but what has ever sounded so heavy and oppressive?"

Having re-read and re-listened to the album, which I hadn’t rated out of scruple. But it’s immense, there’s not much to say.

No fest is much closer to modern dance and dub housing; in terms of modern dance, there are early versions of some tracks that are anything but sketches, and pieces like "heart of darkness" and "final solution" are among the most engaging in the repertoire. And "30 seconds over tokyo" is a great wave piece.

"but why, excuse me, can’t one expect to create art while also having it commercially available as much as possible? What’s wrong with that? You see, in the end, you always fall back on: “those who sell don’t make good stuff.” Look, Josi_ has already answered you. I like quite a few famous and commercial groups; simply, if someone creates an album also thinking about how to make it more accessible, appealing, easily understandable (and other things in '-ible') to everyone, that person is not creating art. Then, I don’t get scandalized or judge those who sell themselves to the highest bidder, but let’s not call those who do “artists.” If someone is good, doesn’t sell out, and succeeds, that’s perfectly fine with me; it doesn’t stop me from liking them."

"At a professional level, yes! A professional singer doesn't create songs just for himself; otherwise, why would he release an album? Why do they hold concerts? Wouldn't it be easier to sing at home in front of 2 or 3 friends or relatives? It's like a professional soccer player playing just for the sheer joy of it. Of course, there's enjoyment, but primarily, it's done for money." Alright, but let's call those who do it for the money by their proper name, not "artists." In rock, the professionals are the session musicians. Anyone who makes a record and expects to create art; if he's doing it for money, he simply isn't an artist. Clear, right?

"Being a professional singer is a job, the ultimate goal is to bring home a nice paycheck, right?" ABSOLUTELY NOT! Damn, if I had you in front of me saying such bullshit in the moment, I would have punched you; you can't read such things. We are all prostitutes, sang someone, but exactly fuck off (not you, pixelid), you have much more artistic dignity if you go to streetwalk. Not everyone makes music for the money, not everyone makes music especially FOR OTHERS.

Just today I was reading a discussion about mahavisnu, where it was mentioned that the keyboardist eventually left because he got tired of always competing to see who could play faster in the band. Is that enough or should I add more? Oh, I really like them a lot, but they are quite full of themselves.

For me, we are far from the splendor of a bitches brew, and they are just show-offs with few equals. However, McLaughlin on guitar is a god. Some wonder how the collaboration between M. Davis and Hendrix would have been: well, he found McLaughlin, who for me is even better ("yeah, but how can you compare blabla, student blabla"...bullshit, I compare, McLaughlin is better gnègnègnè).

I believe that in the entirety of your speech, the peak of the dialectical tension is reached in "It's like wanting to accept being heterosexual when in reality one is gay or trans, like in the case of Radio Za Za or Abdulocazz mentioned above." Damn, you've really hurt me to the core, also prompting me to reevaluate my positions and ideas regarding music. You're truly the best.
