......mmm re-reading here and there, I catch a few typos (three "l"s, "fatispecie" with one "t" and perhaps some other things.). I apologize for this to anyone who intends to endure the entire speech.... . Tks.

@Hymnen: as above; do you like this singer? Wonderful! Listen to him and dream along. As for "television," I will tell you that it's my opinion that it is primarily trash. It doesn’t seem to me, or at least it seems to happen very rarely, that "artists" (the real ones or those who think they can boast this title) in the fields of classical music, jazz, or generally "serious" music or contemporary avant-gardes frequently appear, out of habit, on the channels of Italian television trash. Abroad, from what little I know, the use of television allows greater dignity and presentability or simply opportunities for real "artists" (those who often struggle to get by), and the discourse can be framed differently when that happens. These misunderstood discussions about the supposed "sin" of going on TV hide, in my opinion, only the author's need to sell (fair enough!) and to make enormous profits (a bit less legitimate) for the entire advertising, production, and image entourage that revolves around the current "entertainer." We are talking about a lot of money that the industry must recoup first; then, if all goes well (and here it seems everything is going wonderfully), the profits and hedonism come in. These people live "good lives," and the resulting opportunism is often their lifestyle. For example, it would be interesting to know how much they declare to the tax authorities and why Mr. Ferro (like Mr. V. Rossi) has established his residence in England. To conclude: this Ferro can undoubtedly sing whatever he likes and sell a billion records. However, I kindly ask that those who want to make him pass as a "Great Artist" keep their distance from me. I don't like blasphemies.

@Flyaway: Feel free to keep listening to what you like. It’s only right that it is so. If you can, avoid building around your idols exaggerations of merits that are always personal, subject to taste and subjective interpretation. I don’t usually listen to “easy listening” music, and I don’t have the pretension to persuade anyone to listen to what I like. I just happened to listen to some things by this singer, and I don’t like either what he sings, how he sings it, or the usual commercial machinery they’ve built around it. If for you he’s a genius of skill, may that do you good. I know nothing about the authors of Gustavotanz or what this guy prefers, and frankly, I don’t care much. If you’re interested in knowing what I listen to or what interests me, it’s enough for you to read the hundreds of comments I’ve posted here and there on this site for the past three years. If you also listen to those things, we could compare notes on that; otherwise, best wishes.

Of course, with all the beautiful music that exists on this planet (and there has been, and still is, really a lot of it…), spending time on such a media-hyped personality (who bounces back and forth between radio and TV to promote his "product") and frankly not that fresh or original either, really seems like a huge waste of time, in my very humble opinion. Forgive me, but I believe I have a vast amount of other things to listen to, as far as I'm concerned. After the obvious "massacre" highlighted by the comments on the thread, I think it would be appropriate to turn the page and direct our gaze and ears to other things. The divergence of opinions between flyaway and gustavotanz, in my opinion, is the exact replica (read a dozen, hundreds of times) of the "I like it, you don’t, so you’re an idiot" debate that risks dragging on for days. Perhaps it would be wise for tempers to cool and for everyone to listen to what they like at 20, 30, or 60 years old, trying to tolerate others' tastes. Is that doable? Is it possible or is it asking too much?

@Liciafeet and Alevox: I can assure you that Terry is a "good girl" with a square head when it comes to music. Young, yes, but with her ears (and mind) wide open! Hi Terry! It's been a while since we've connected, huh?! Best regards.

I quote Fishman and Linz because their quotes from the beautiful Kubrick film made me burst out laughing a couple of times on this "bruta" day. Lawrence, don't take it badly; they just exaggerated "a bit"... I spent about ten minutes at work gossiping about the current Ferro and reminiscing about his "interesting" pseudo-experimental beginnings. Yesterday he was on Radio DJ and he made quite a scene, and the crap was spreading everywhere. Linus and Savino kept pumping him up. He, cheerful (and excited) like a thrush, continued to play the part of the fool born yesterday. It's so sad and stomach-turning. At this rate, the music industry will chew him up. I've noticed that the vast majority of the comments are thumbs down regarding the current character and his recent "product." I join in. It's what puppets like him deserve.

@Hymnen: Ok, sorry, no problem; do you want to contribute to the understanding of that period with some references that help readers understand what they did together? Given the antithetical style of the altoist and the trumpeter from Alton, I suppose you want to say something about that. You're welcome!

@Hymnn: When, citing a couple of jazz greats, I added "and so on," I was counting on the fact that, since there are dozens, or maybe hundreds, it would be enough to mention at least a couple. It's clear that if I had to name them all, perhaps a debaserian page wouldn't be sufficient. Of course, Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, Ornette Coleman, Dewey Redman, Lennie Tristano, Sonny Rollins... should I go on?...... Hi Acqua! I appreciated your words.....go on Man!!
