LA RECENSIONE

Tiziano Ferro returns after 2 years with this new album. What to say? I believe that Tiziano is a good artist. With this album, he doesn't add anything new to music. This is for sure. By now, the singer-songwriter from Latina has understood what sells and is increasingly dedicated to the classic tear-jerking ballad. And he undoubtedly does it very well.

On a compositional and musical level, there is no great innovation and it always remains on a rather flat line with some electronic experimentation that is too flashy and ineffective. However, this isn't true for the lyrics. Tiziano's words are always quite profound and never trivial. The guy surely knows how to write. Starting with the piece in duet with Franco Battiato, it must be said that Ferro surprises here even though he tries a bit too hard to take on the features of the quintessential singer-songwriter accompanying him in the song. Moving on, I can say that "Indietro", "il regalo più grande", "assurdo pensare", "il sole esiste per tutti" and "fotografie della tua assenza" are certainly the happiest episodes of the album. The single "alla mia età" is in my opinion one of the best. A notable piece that somewhat recalls De Gregori, especially in the first verses. And the lyrics speak for themselves.

The rest is already-heard stuff. Very unfortunate is the piece "la traversata dell'estate." Almost dance-like electronics for a non-sense song... in my opinion. But we can forgive him :)

Some already compare him to Battiato. Fossati praises him. And he's included among the best songwriters of today. There's some truth to that. But let's not rush....

In conclusion.... it's an album that is pleasant to listen to, but it adds no novelty to the Italian scene. Anyway... Tiziano Ferro has good talent and can move forward. Hopefully, he might also find other paths. Let's hope someone reminds him that experimentation also exists.

Summary by Bot

Tiziano Ferro’s album Alla Mia Età showcases his undeniable talent as a lyricist and ballad singer but fails to introduce fresh musical innovation. While some songs shine, especially collaborations and key singles, much of the album remains predictable. The attempts at electronic experimentation feel flashy and misplaced. The review highlights Ferro’s potential for growth and hopes for more experimentation in his future works.

Tiziano Ferro, for better or worse, is the same as in his previous albums.

The strengths are his voice, the melodies he manages to create, and the collaborations.

'Alla mia età' is an album made of sad ballads, often melancholic, focused on the consequences of other people’s malice and envy.

A challenge certainly difficult to face but successfully overcome and one that may win over many skeptics, as it did with me.
