Peter Frampton Comes Alive
Voto:
I adore Peter Frampton's "Comes Alive," and I've always felt that way. Even when I was a kid. Then I heard him with Steve Marriott, and thanks to "As Safe as Yesterday Is," I understood why Humble Pie might have felt constricted. I believe that although Nightwalker defines the Stones' version of "Jumpin' .." as "wasteful rock" (and personally, I see it as a brilliant reinvention thanks to the shift in rhythmic phrasing), and considers the entire project to be lightweight with its pop songs and cute little faces, tracks like "Do You Feel Like I Do" belong to the Olympus of my personal rock lore. I salute the guitarist brother of Odradek, who likely understands me, or would have understood me better than he did. I also get Kosmogabri: back then, one couldn't take it anymore with the girls, all lost for him. Seeing him now, almost bald with a slightly aged smile, you wouldn't believe the heights this man reached. For me, anyway, the guitarist with the talk box always holds a place of honor. As a side note, Bob Mayo recently passed away, and it was no small loss. A masterpiece of prêt-à-porter rock.

For Odradek: now I hope you are finally satisfied after accepting the invitation and reaffirming your immense belief in your superior abilities (which, for what it's worth, I readily concede to you). Well, you've had your last chance (as far as I'm concerned), you've demonstrated the demonstrable, and now it's really enough. Goodbye.

Yes, I also went out for a couple of (perhaps 14) steps. In the end, the sun came out to brighten the horizons. Cheers to you, adventurous debaserians. Until another time. Here, it went this way.

It makes me laugh just thinking about Renzo Pin, Odradej, Ugly Panda, and me struggling to say, explain, repair, defend, and hurl things back and forth. Frankly, I understand very little in this mess anymore, assuming I really meant it when I replied, asking, accusing, getting irritated, especially with Odradek's smugness and "radical chic" attitude. I repeat, this character, from what I've gathered, takes whistles for flasks, talks about "defeat" (debaser is neither a war nor a battle), and is particularly touchy, as well as exceptionally skilled in the art of flipping things around with particularly cultured or pseudo-cultured terminology. (Even Berlusca acts (reacting) in the same way). Well, I've said it before, it's his problem. I've tried to understand multiple times, but I felt like I was being called a relative of Mastella. (sic!). Haha. Really amusing. You should have been a comedian. But that's enough now; let's stop it. Just send me another of your tirades accusing me of whatever the hell you want, and let's put an end to it. I promise I won't reply again. Enjoy the celebration.

I confirm, Ugly Panda, if it were needed, my full solidarity and unconditional support for the points of view and opinions you have expressed, clearly directed at Odradek. I also note that you are confronting underlying principles (perhaps not exactly the same ones) that the character would try to twist to his advantage or in the name of a presumed wisdom demonstrable by the springs counted on the abacus of a supposedly better way of thinking and coherence. The attempt (shamefully) to publicly shame you is a scheme I recognize and is further deplorable. It's not easy to reason with the patterns of this strange hybrid that has numerous layers poorly fused together, in my opinion. The confusion generated by this misunderstood sense of accumulating life experiences, sometimes denied, sometimes misinterpreted, can be irritating at times; especially when a redundant language and an unnecessarily ostentatious use of vocabulary come into play. I'm still pleased that you, simply, try to make our friend reflect (will you succeed? I have serious doubts) on simple elements (irony, detachment, autonomy of interpretation, even lightness, "savoir vivre") that seem, not just in words, far from this person's sensitivity, who is not, by the way, foolish. I fear, from personal experience, it’s a lost cause from the start; it’s a kind of rubber wall from which I suppose you won’t easily derive satisfaction. No big deal; if you like, let’s meet again on these pages and… let’s tell each other stories! I renew my best wishes. Bye.

Ugly Panda: yay!! For the second time, I've stumbled upon a more delightful intersection than expected. I join in with the only difference being that instead of Napalm Death I could put something else, but in the end it matters little. You know, I've already had a lively exchange of views with Odradek quite a few lines up (if you want, take a look but it might be a drag...); this could ideally tie back to the simple concepts you expressed. For me, it's also a matter of language and conceptual type. In the end, we didn't understand each other and that's that. You are much more "practical" and "playful"; it's clear and evident. So I award you my personal evening medal, which, in this context, equals a preference driven by fondness. Happy Easter with or without joints. Bye.

Well, if that's the case, back in '80 in a small pub (not Craxi) here in the area, the Sun Ra Arkestra managed to play there. It was a bit funny, but when there's so much good will and desire to play... .

I read with keen interest the last two interventions by Odradek and Renzo; both contain elements of deep reflection, wisdom, and common sense. I would be inclined to say that my little "intelligence" makes me prefer spontaneity and direct ways (do you remember, Odradek?) of framing situations; in detail and/or in general. But the doubt about further possibilities looms at every turn. What certainties are there, beyond death?
