Bruce Cockburn You Pay Your Money And You Take Your Chance
Voto:
I would also like to add my contribution. I have known and loved Cockburn for almost thirty years, I believe, and I have never seen him so marvelously associated with the movements of the heart and the beauty of human love in such an urban context.... Believe me, John, finding Bruce with these visions and reflections stirred something inside me and brought back to mind (and heart) how much I have dreamed with him. And how much the woman I love makes me dream or helps me to dream when I might not be able to due to sadness or discouragement. I saw Cockburn again on the occasion of an album that marked a "substantial" return to the great things of the past; ("The Charity of Night") and when he signed two of his masterpieces for me ("Joy Will Find A Way" & "In the Falling Dark" which I sincerely hope you know) he commented, "Oh... The acoustic period... that's so far....". His gaze was melancholically distant.... His lyrics were initially marked by a rather "practical" interpretation of religious faith with multiple references to evangelical teachings and divine invocations. Later (in the '80s), a disappointed and disenchanted Cockburn, reflecting on the meanness and blatant absurdities of the world, shifted the focus of his lyrics toward a sometimes scathing political and social vision (like your "you pay your money....."). Nevertheless, his enormous observational capacity and high poetic value have almost never diminished. Moreover, Cockburn has represented one of the key figures in the author electro-acoustic scene in the '70s. In Canada, he is practically a living legend. There are countless albums that could be recommended. It's simply a matter of choice. It is also worth highlighting his virtuosic and exquisite guitar playing capable of extraordinary flights (for example, "Bright Sky" on "Further Adventures of..."). You really surprised me, Jop, with Bruce. I wouldn’t have thought you to be a frequenter of these paths, and I sincerely delight in that. However, I guess the best thing to recommend to a novice regarding Cockburn is the double live (from '77) "Circles In The Stream." There you find the most beautiful Cockburn in the world. Jop, you couldn't have made a more beautiful public declaration of love for the woman who lights up your eyes...... Love.

.....very...very much...very, very much snobbish.... And don't play the fool.... you may be brilliant, but don’t pretend to be an idiot..... I know, yes, you would like that, but... I won't give you that satisfaction... unless.... (the "famous" unless....) we find ourselves in a filthy restroom of a service station (but where have I heard this before, hmm...) where, in front of the wall while dealing with prostate issues (....) forced by the situation of absolute degradation, and having degraded myself completely too, I might ask you: "Dante, are you an idiot?" and you, at that point, what would you say to me? Keep in mind that I would be prepared for anything, as it wouldn't surprise me if someone asked me a similar question.... so, then, what would you say? Kind of like "Pulp grill - part 1" :D

"Nobody teaches anything to anyone in here." (another quote from Odradek's post). It’s clear that you haven’t understood a damn thing in here. Who knows about the outside. Speak for yourself, incapable of learning from those who can teach here. If you haven’t learned to recognize your teachers and their little or big daily lessons even in here, that’s your problem, and I’m not interested. I, in spite of you, have found them and continue to find them. Spare me, ugh, these clichés that only serve to further disqualify you. Like the story of "Poletti trying to be funny": do you really think you’re making people laugh? Poletti doesn’t just want to be funny; he called you out just as you are. And you’re not that great, neither before nor after all.

@marco poletti: "These are opinions. I never refer them to people, but exclusively to ideas or concepts": You see, Marco, it's in quotes. Enough with this nonsense! The author of these fine words who says a lot without ever saying anything concrete (let alone the Beatles) is so sincere and reliable that elsewhere he has "misunderstood" to such an extent that opinions have turned into insults directed at a person instead of ideas and concepts. The insults? "facciadiculo" and "ometto". (Mamma, how sensitive I am, huh?!) Odradek, can you deny this as well? Note that I have NEVER expressed direct insults towards you, even if you would deserve plenty; feel free to check, great man. Want to change the subject, darling, because it hurts you that someone points out your personal insults which contradict your lofty moral intentions or because I catch you saying one thing and then doing another? In Sicily, people like you are called Quaqquaraquà. It suits you. Did you have to spew your pointless idiocies about Marco Poletti here too? It seems that Marco only reports the questionable things that, along with others, you had the vanity to write. At least let us clearly understand if you like the Beatles, because there would be doubts about that too, just to change things up. Did it annoy you that Poletti mentioned you twice in his "review"? But what is it that you like? Only when everyone is ready to say, "Exceptional Odradek! Oh how good you are, Odradek!" Instead, look, I catch you being mocked here even by Marco Poletti. It's about time someone showed what needed to be highlighted and took you for what you are. You don't enchant me (us). You can listen to all the records in the world. You will always be missing something, logorrheic weathervane. For the hornets' nests, it seems that you are the one wanting to stir them. With all the things you cling to just to come out looking clean, sooner or later someone will create one, however, thanks to you. What do you know about how much time Poletti or that guy dedicates to listening to records? What the hell kind of criterion is that? A matter to be measured with a stopwatch in hand? Just think… Lower and lower, Odradek... But tell me? Is your woman cheating on you and you take revenge as you can? Do you feel frustrated with office work? Are you bored to death?

I wouldn’t want to delve into the "dispute" between Genoo and Stoopid; however, let me just say that I listened to Ravi with Steve Coleman a few years ago at a truly beautiful concert with the Lady Cassandra Wilson (in one of her sets). I was there, ready to recognize the son of such a great father (even the same instrument) but... I just couldn’t really "feel" him and his contribution was frankly disappointing. This happened more than ten years ago. How is Ravi now, if there’s someone who knows well what he does? Speaking of "excellent" offspring, I’ve heard a couple of things from Felix and Julius Pastorius and, even though they’re young, they seem to promise well. We’ll see…. They are wonderful but heavy legacies.

paolofelpi@virgilio.it? It would be about time you planted yourself here and elsewhere. Stash your lovely address where you can imagine and try to enlighten another audience. As for me, I've had enough of empty and haughty provocateurs like you. What's truly delusional is the existence of such pathetic "characters" like this fool.

...Not to mention your mistakes, the more serious ones. Have your little nephew teach you; he might know a bit more than you. Probably even about humility. Squallor, believe me, you can argue here for years, but with that insolent and irritating tone you have (and that has generated my offensive tone, because you deserve it, stupid as a goat that you are), you're not going anywhere. You don't even know what good faith is. You only know how to judge people from above, with your nose in the air and a sense of superiority that makes my stomach turn. Even if, for just a moment, you could consider the possibility of your "intelligence," just reread your posts to convince yourself otherwise. It takes a lot more, honey, to claim merits that you unfortunately don't have. Instead, you should review quite a few things around you. Moreover, the next time you decide to spit judgments on some album or work, make sure first that it’s not "zipzap" by the artist "pincopallino": usually, "intelligent" people at least justify their ideas or positions. Of course, if you do it regarding the album in question on this page in that manner, you define yourself for what you are, and we return to the point. That is, you are an idiot.
