@Beatboy: I hope you are listening to "Contaminazione" (RdM). Let me know what you think. @Dante: Besides being old and a bit senile, I'm also quite ignorant. So enlighten me, maybe, about the Roman scene (even privately, why not?) when the occasion arises. tks. ....Good Old Dante.... or...Antonio...?

@Enea: 'wow....here's what I forgot......nothing less than the "clou" that resolves the matter!! My poor and battered memory thanks you immensely! Just think, when the album was released I could broadcast it on the radio in snippets that even lasted up to 10 minutes.... Those were truly different times. I don't want to say something silly, but the cd recently reappeared on store shelves at a ridiculous price, like 2 euros and 90..... .

Recently, this album has been reissued on CD with a curious hologram on the front cover. Could this be the origin of the double cover? Regarding the review, I must commend the effort to establish a precise dialectical scanning with the musical progression. It is also true, as someone observed, that stylistically it’s not the best to do "the whole album minute by minute," but considering the enthusiasm, it can be forgiven just this once. These sounds have always made me smile a little; of course, the group is important, as is the duration, the characteristics, and the period in which it was created, but... nothing more. I would define the album as a "Cathedral in the desert": someone sees it (the cathedral) from afar and tries to enter. They find it interesting. Then they exit, remember it for a while, and eventually realize there are other cathedrals, perhaps not in the desert; perhaps more interesting.

Thank you for the advice, Matt7; I followed up on it and had fun reading about the exploits of this character in your review. It really doesn’t seem bad, right? However, given the friendly tone of the review (of Benson), you could have been a bit more generous with the ratings... On the other hand, I’m delighted to find in that entry the mythical figure of Dante Cruciani, who continues to astonish me with his at least unexpected... acquaintances. I, at most, really managed to listen to "only" George Benson, during the golden days of "Weekend In L.A.". As for "fall picking," the technique is new to me. Old and daft as I am, I barely got to "Flat Picking" and "Finger Picking." Someone tried to convince me with "easy pippin’" but without success. Anyway, thanks to you too, Matt7, for shedding some light on this curious character.

Thank you Emanuele for the clarification. I was concerned about a "typo" with George.

It's true both what Symbad claims (after all, without the "lows," how could we identify the "highs"....?) and the things pointed out by Socrates (except for the structure of the review, which I respect without reservations); my children, in the car, must endure at least one Joni Mitchell (electric) and one Earth, Wind & Fire. Anyway, they don't like it, so.... @Symbad: yes, "Tenderness" is one of the last (last.....) beautiful things made by our artist. The collaboration with the soprano in "My Favourite Things" is interesting; a bit predictable (and too "polished") is the production by Marcus Miller. Personally, on the "danceable" side, I don't mind some things from "High Crime" and "Heart's Horizon"; I always enjoy revisiting the show from "Live in London" (I believe around '85). Ricky Lawson is on drums, fresh from adventures with Ferrante and Haslip, and he's really bringing it. The atmosphere is cheerful, and Jarreau is brighter than ever; it was probably the last true "peak" of his career, but we're talking about twenty years ago..... "Accentuate the Positive," as already mentioned, brings him back to heights not seen in a long time, involved, as he was, in merely decent productions. Essentially, he has returned to a dimension more suited to him (perhaps also aided by age, I believe), retracing the path of interpretations of standards that are not always overplayed ("The Nearness Of You," for example, is stunning) and fresh compositions in their....classicism. It's never too late.

....a discreet review for an Italian progressive band that frankly I only know by name. One question: who would guitarist Richard Benson be, introduced by "udite udite?"; tks.
