Gentle Giant In A Glass House

@Iside: if only you knew how many records I could say the same about.......

...well, I mean "an antidote against boredom" really seems like an exaggeration! Not to make comparisons, but there are certain things by Eno that are much more boring, in my opinion ("Thursday afternoon," "Neroli") and they should be ambient.......

I add my ratings to a beautiful review of a cornerstone of modern music. Just one doubt: are we really sure that "Trout Mask Replica" deserves the title of masterpiece?

It is extraordinary, I would say, that twenty-six years after their dissolution, there is an official website dedicated to them that covers every single aspect of their activity and music. The adventure of the Giants has been a treasure trove of riches on multiple musical levels; layered, added, and fused into a marvelous harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic wealth. It was with this album that I discovered them, in '73, and I believe it was love at first sight; then came the others, "Three Friends," "Power & The Glory," etc.: But the glass house (as often happens) is the one I’ve felt the most attached to. It may seem bold, but if we exclude Zappa's work, I believe the Giants can represent the first embryonic form of contamination between the trends of contemporary music (of that time) while often respecting the structures and writing styles of so-called classical music. They really left us an invaluable heritage of ideas, concepts, compositions, research, and developments that are absolutely uncommon in the landscape of both the '70s and the decades to come. Furthermore, there has recently been the release of a second, extraordinary DVD, featuring them live during the "Interview/The Missing Piece" period with a fair number of interesting bonuses. Personally, I had long yearned for the idea of being able to view them in some way, and with "On the Box" and this "GG at the GG".... "a dream come true." Beautiful and precise (as a true enthusiast) is Manalishi's review, which, it seems to me, has touched on one of his "top." Well done!

I believe that certain things, very debatable, should remain unspoken; if not for anything else, out of respect for those who might take offense at certain statements. Claiming that all of Nick Drake's albums are identical seems to me quite a stretch, highly debatable, and at the very least disrespectful. Usually, I avoid disputing matters of taste, but in this case, I simply couldn't refrain. I would like to know how many people feel comfortable sharing Adriano Bernard's point of view.
Blackfield Blackfield

I am primarily addressing Sylvian1982; Blackfield is essentially a (great) album of pop harmonies and melodies. Curiously and, if you will, in a bizarre way, it often reminds me of (as bold as it may seem) the first work of the crimson court (I Talk to the Wind, Moonchild, Epitaph, etc.). It is an immensely enjoyable work that largely recaptures the use of acoustic elements and, indeed, simple structures. The often evocative atmosphere gives it a very particular aura; the beautiful voices of Geffen and Wilson's creativity take care of the rest. Kaleth's review, undoubtedly "original," is still sufficiently clear to shed light on the content of this "parallel" work (and indeed miles away from the hedgehogs) by Wilson. For those interested, I should mention that the CD in question is double, containing the second of the two, three tracks that are quite lovely. The graphic design by Lasse Hoile is simply extraordinary.

@Festwca: thank you for your "interruption": I just returned from the music pusher with the first two CDs, and tonight the stage will be theirs.......

Aeneas, I believe you have focused on something very true by making the necessary distinctions; and I commend you (incredible, huh?!) for such a magnificently presented summary (the last one) of the matter. You even managed to elicit a hearty laugh from me with the nickname "Old Slobbering Harpagon"! No one has ever gone so far; and since (just to change things up) you are a special guy and I am a soft-hearted (and slobbering) greedy big brother, I'm giving you (completely out of place) a nice score for your wonderful nonsense.....: : Score for the intervention: 5. :) Happy with that?!

Minchia, Enea, it's really true that you're touchy. What the hell is wrong with being a thinking being in the way you express it? But since you're "prone to mood swings," I’ll let it slide and send you a playful middle finger ( :) ). I also need food, like everyone else, maybe even to spread it on a vinyl copy of Alpha Centauri and see what happens; you know, if the cosmos is affected in any way. Speaking of which, Enea, I should soon get my hands on the first two albums by LA Dusseldorf, which I managed to find with a bit of difficulty. Do you know them? Do you appreciate them? Dislike them? Cheers.

Look, Robert, I read your comments regarding the doubts I expressed, but the fog, forgive me, still persists; furthermore, I would like to emphasize that we are not in school, I am not a teacher, and the grades (for what they are worth) have already been given. Amen.
