King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King

So, I will say that the only alternative that has emerged to Rizzi's volume is just one (1) volume in English, which is also not easily available. If we want to split hairs, let’s go ahead and be picky. I repeat that Rizzi's volume is an excellent means to approach a musical genre; it doesn’t claim to be exhaustive, it’s not an encyclopedia, and rather than nothing, as someone said, it’s better to have something. If there are no National Health or Napoli Centrale, what do you want to do? Hang Caesar Rizzi? Give to Caesar what is Caesar's... These polemics amuse me a bit because if you listen to some people, it would seem that the choice and the amount of material in this field is such that one could afford to be fussy. But come on!! In any case: do you want to take something else, maybe something better? Be my guest.

A clarification: I had heard of a jazz festival that takes place in the summer in Berchidda and is organized by Paolo Fresu: Are these two different things or what? Thank you for any clarification.

Daniele, you are a spirited person, and believe me, I appreciated it a lot. :) Sorry: what does "better Em or Am" mean? Forgive my cognitive shortcomings!

No trouble, Manalishi, it’s freewheelin’. The esteemed Dante Cruciani (who had discussed the great keyboardists in the previous post) knows how much I love to capture his ideas and, with a Dadaist spirit, create surreal and/or absurd situations (to which he then contributes with his own touch.....). This is just one of those situations, half real and half staged. If you follow the various phases of the post-meetings with Cruciani (notably “Like A Virgin” by Madonna: please go read his review), many have emerged, some quite....tasty. Try to believe it. Also give “Hosianna Mantra” by Popol Vuh a shot. Happy reading. :)

I would like to understand one thing, daftroby: but is the "review" made for the benefit of whom? Yours or for those who should read it?

@Green manalishi..... the problem (assuming it is one....) is that for me "Roots To Branches" isn't exactly one of the great albums by JT. Anyway, Manalishi, no problem. @Roby86: you made me chuckle a bit, I admit, with your Polettian speech...... : As usual, personally, given the incompetence and perhaps inconsistency of the character, I suggest the simplest thing: to overlook and ignore it. In the meantime (just to make you laugh) I'll tell you that I've always loved the studio triple album "Yessongs" by Yes and that I adore "flick as a nick" by JT. :D

@Pier_paolo_farina: regardless of personal tastes and individual critical beliefs, I believe that Rizzi's volume indeed delves into an aspect either never mentioned before or unknown to most, and I refer to the so-called "minor" prog scene. In fact, there are no texts crafted in this way aimed at listing, with a minimum of competence (even if with obviously debatable tastes), the fundamental chapters of this "genre." If you know of any, I kindly ask you to inform me (and inform us). I would be very happy to learn about it and perhaps acquire such material. Best regards.

In reality, Dante, and you know it, it's you, with your jests, who inspires me, so it's all and only thanks to you if I manage to pull out (not just my thing when I go to the bathroom humming like a virgin) such surreal and bizarre little stories. By the way, I believe that the Debaser awards committee should seriously consider the possibility of awarding a prize for a review that (1651 visits!!) talks about a guy with "such a dick" because "the whole song is a metaphor about a big dick. It’s about a pussy that fucks left and right, day and night, morning and evening: fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK!!! "How many dicks??" ... Let me say once more that I wouldn’t hesitate to define this last part as one of my greatest revelations of 2006. Me, poor thing, who for twenty years naively thought of Miss Ciccone as a little saint inclined to sing her "dicks" for the difficult condition of a little virgin convincing half the world to buy this masterpiece (.....). Thank you Dante, thank you for all this. I will never know how to repay you for these interpretative visions and for your exquisite sagacity. I also believe there would now be enough material to turn this review into an old-fashioned telenovela. The script and the lines? But dear Dante, do you think that in over 1650 comments we can’t manage to extract something good and useful ??!! :))))))) Think about it, man.

The group, on the nearly experimental scene of the 80s, had its share of importance. It's not so outdated, I believe. Let's try listening again to "in non sense nonsense," or the recent "The art of C. Debussy"; moreover, I understand that Ann Dudley has worked in other contexts, combining electronic research with rediscovered ethno-folk. Brief review.
