@Frantz: The only thing I'm sure of is that on de-baser they host people who want to tell/write something. I'm not a music critic, nor do I aspire to be one, but I’ll respond to you what I’ve already answered a few notes above: "I believe that the desire to write, and writing itself, arise from something akin to the creative process through which artists compose music, paintings, poetry, or songs. Just like an artist creates, a writer also creates, and creation is often independent. It simply is." In fact, I too perceived your note more as a personal criticism than anything else and, excuse me, that’s not fair. Not only do you not know me, but what makes you think it's right to believe I should review this rather than that other album when there are so many on my list? I just hope that participating in this splendid group work doesn’t force me to defend myself (why should I?), nor to constantly justify myself. I am only available to compare my personal, and obviously subjective, ideas, without overflowing even an inch from the joy that pushed me to write and join you all.

@Cleo: Of course I saw him live, the last time at the Smeraldo for Anything and Nothing, and I stand by my rating of 1 for this album (the album, not Sylvian) because, even though it’s a good work from a strictly technical-musical standpoint, it’s boringly one-dimensional and flat. Cleo, how can you compare him to a Queen? To me, he seems quite dandy, yes, but one of those who deep down are KINGS, absolutely!!!!

Yes, indeed, have you heard his latest CD? It's very gloomy, almost like a mass; in fact, I still haven't figured out if it's the soundtrack to Gibson's film, Passion, or part of the discarded work, but it's grandiosely and darkly beautiful, epic and symphonic, magnificent!!! I haven't reviewed it yet because it's the kind of album that takes me months to understand what it evokes in me amidst the myriad of emotions and sensations it digs within. ;)

@fosca Dear Fosca, all the reviews are for insiders. I don't read the review of so-and-so, but of someone I know, or at least have heard of. And vanamente clearly states something understandable to everyone, whether they are familiar with Sylvian or not: the album is terrible. And it is damn true, the album is incredibly terrible, and precisely for the reasons mentioned by vanamente: too self-indulgent. To the point of nausea. And this doesn’t negate that Sylvian is a great artist. But unfortunately, this is yet another mark against him! Who forgives bad albums, the inept or the geniuses? Dear Fosca, perhaps we are also delving into taste here. You like Dead Bees, while I find it a worthy prologue to Blemish, that is, a pre-shit. Even there, too self-indulgent, also boring to the point of nausea, however, the preservation of the song structure (almost completely lost here) and a couple of decent titles (let’s say...) make that work less hard to digest than this one. Or perhaps you love Sylvian too much and forgive him everything, losing all judgment ability. Not a big deal, a love fault ;-) Of a man, you accept everything, or you reject everything, not so with an artist. The man is not discussed and not judged, the artist unfortunately or fortunately is! Anyway, I agree with you (and not with vanamente) that Brilliant Trees and Secrets are his masterpieces! Ars gratia artis...

@kosmogabri: I believe that the desire to write, and writing itself, arise from something similar to the creative process through which artists compose music, paintings, poems, or songs. In fact, I reviewed this album because obviously I know Sylvian well, very well, and honestly I didn’t intend to talk about his works in a strict sense; moreover, what sense would it have made to discuss Secrets of the Beehive and Brilliant Trees if not for rhetoric (by the way, my favorites are Gone to Earth and Rain Tree Crow and, as far as I’m concerned, the latter contains three of the most beautiful songs he’s ever written, one for all Blackwater), but just like an artist who creates, a writer also creates, and creation is often independent. It is born and that's it. ;)

@anonimo: and not only that, it might also happen that I decide to review again and then review-review-review again, and even review-review-review-review-review if I feel the desire to say something different, something new, or just because I feel like it. And since, asking the editorial team, I was told that we are all free to choose the albums we like without any problem, I don't see why I shouldn't. Anyway, it's impolite to throw a stone and hide your face, in this case, of course, the name.

@Kosmogabri: I really never said that I dislike Sylvian, nor did I say that "Brilliant Trees" or "Secret of The Beehive" are terrible, especially since Forbidden Colours belongs to "Secrets of the Beehive" and Nightporter to the last period of Japan. I simply find this album monotonous and boring, and as such, I don't consider it worthy of more than a 1. That Sylvian knows his craft and that I own all his records has not been questioned nor is it my intention to do so! :)

I agree. The album is really beautiful and Bowie still has the courage to discover and experiment with new things; he doesn't even shy away from singing covers. One thing, though, troubles me about the comments: why the insults? And so mean-spirited as well as anonymous?

I publicly apologize to Mr. Iko, the review was not done by him but by Tensi Shell, however the rest of the reason why I decided to describe Pornography this way remains unchanged!!!! ;)
