Matteo, do you really take your music that seriously? Sorry, poor Passenger, he has the right to laugh if it makes him laugh, right? Think of me getting a headache, better Passenger laughing, right? :)

x Zurk: I assure you that Fabrizio was a real pain in the ass and, like all geniuses, he had that air and high-handedness which, when I was working in the field, sometimes made me snap into those famous 2 minutes that also included the urge to slam the phone in his face. If I had done it, I could have at most claimed that the line suddenly dropped given my very minimal role in that office... but I have always separated the man from the artist, and the artist De André is truly great.

@ Glitch: providing another interpretation doesn't mean it's either right or wrong, but don't take it personally if I say I found your way of "washing me away" a bit rude, as if it were pointless and superfluous to talk to me.

It's not that we don't take risks; it's just that when faced with the lyrics and songs of someone like de Andrè, it would be a tremendous effort for me. Like Hal, I listened to De Andrè as a child because my father bought vinyl records back then; this would mean going in search of pieces of emotions and feelings that would have little to do with the albums themselves. There would be little objectivity, little freshness if you will, but in return, an enormous emotional load. I felt the same effect when I tried to review Pornography by the Cure... I couldn't do it; I just painted it... and for the same reason, I couldn't even find a word to review Animals by Pink Floyd, the very first album I ever bought in my life. I think it's the same for many.

You see, Glitch, that’s the point. It’s unacceptable that someone who understands could disagree. Obviously, I don’t understand; I can’t understand, it’s so obvious given my stance on Blemish, which is clearly an unappreciated masterpiece. It’s fine if you say so, but it’s not objective. Don’t think you know who I am and how much I know; you might end up taking a fantastic topic. This is still a general rule. Neither can I say that my opinions are the only ones, nor can you because, no matter how absurd they may seem, they are still facets of the artist Sylvian. What I won’t accept is your ā€œno, we’re not there.ā€ In what sense? Because it wasn’t the same brand of powder? You well know that I’m not referring to powder and foundation; Cerrone was another one that was in vogue back then :), but to something much more subtle and obvious. Furthermore, I also won’t accept you telling me ā€œit means nothing, I’ve been following Sylvian sinceā€¦ā€ etc., etc. Maybe it means nothing to you, but to me, it just seems like a way to brush me off without even considering my objections, which you seem to gloss over as if I hadn’t even raised them…

@ Glitch: dear Glitch, what I have never truly understood is why a review like mine cannot be accepted and why everyone has to bow down to genius even when genius stumbles. Do you have this idea about Sylvian's latest work? Perfect, I won't contest or discuss it, but I think considering it the only valid opinion is a bit reductive. I've followed Sylvian forever (since we were both kids and he was clearly copying the Duke) and I've loved him for everything except what you define as his pop side; but for me and many like me, Blemish is the cold and perfect work of an artist who, now complete, has indulged in a piece created solely for himself. Let’s be clear, he won’t be the first and not the last to do so, but despite how acclaimed Blemish has been, it is still a work perceived by many as lacking what is normally referred to as "heart," and with this, I am absolutely not talking about the lyrics. The future will judge :)
