I should mention that I didn't reply to you earlier because I was languidly lounging on a golden beach with the blue sea and the scent of salt in the air, which... well, let's forget about that, sniff.
You started off saying that you preferred Battiato because he expressed the same concepts as Ferretti in a more appropriate way. I replied that the comparison doesn't hold, not from an intellectual standpoint, since the center of gravity is more or less the same, but because the two men are characteristically too different—Battiato is phlegmatic and Ferretti is irate—for your "I prefer Battiato for this reason" to be shared. No theory, in short, is a bit of a heavy term to use for a mere opinion about Ferretti. Ferretti is loved because he is an artist who makes music and sings and overwhelms, but it is simply very recognizable that he expresses himself in a somewhat cryptic way if you don't know the history. In "Occitania," one of his lines goes exactly like this: "Occitania il femminile appena abbozzato dell'Occidente," and this line is so hermetic that if you don’t know the reason behind it, it’s practically impossible to digest. Battiato also uses phrases with double and triple meanings; "La Cura," for example, is absolutely not a love song but a song about Love. However, he employs a less cerebral, more poetic language, which makes his words less cumbersome, more enjoyable, and easily hum-able. But if you only approach niche products like "Campi Magnetici 1 Num3r1 non 51 P0ss0n0 Amar3," then even with Battiato, the conversation changes. That's all.

Well, I also agree with Hal and Caz The Wall & The Dark Side are masterpieces, but as I've stated several times, it's definitely Animals that I love the most.

Thank you! But for me, the Feltrinelli in Buenos Aires is much more convenient, and there it's NADA! The only hope is that by continually pestering the purchasing manager, he might get a bit more adventurous; who knows, maybe next time along with Britney, we'll also get Floris! Anyway, as soon as I go downtown, I’ll dive into memories!

This review is beautiful, Valerio, and sums up, in a very witty way, what we all thought after this album that has the ability to bore too quickly. Perhaps the mistake is to continue loving the remnants of a spirit that no longer exists, hoping with each new release that the old glories, the surprises, the infatuation will return... we continue to love, yes, but a bit out of boredom, almost like an old couple that no longer knows what to talk about but still can’t bring themselves to part!

I didn't listen to him very well, I agree with you on that, but I just can't stand him. However, I can put my nonsense aside and pay tribute to the musician. After all, no one is liked by everyone, but that doesn’t mean we have to shoot them down. In the end, you even become detestable in your own eyes. Okay, Bloomer. You're right.

Well, you said you had your gonads full of Ferretti for how he presents his texts; I replied that while Battiato/Ferretti are close to a certain center of gravity, which they probably share, their styles, and likely their ways of life, are different. Speaking of Ferretti/Zamboni, I used the metaphor of cabbages regarding their artistic characters, not the unacceptability of your words.

I don’t want to defend Ferretti at all costs, not that I honestly think he needs it, but comparing him to Battiato is quite the stretch. They probably share a certain sensibility, a common gravitational center in their explorations, but where one is phlegmatic, the other is irate. And in this sense, I don’t mean anger; I’m talking about the fury that comes from indignation, which well aligns with the punk guitars that accompany Ferretti's lyrics. During a long car journey, I had fun moving from "D'Anime e D'Animali" to "Sorella Sconfitta," and no comparison left my travel companions more astounded. High-energy Pgr with risqué lyrics gave way to a more refined and intimate Zamboni, but never was a juxtaposition as mismatched as that one, akin to comparing cabbage with dessert. Battiato's indignation melds in the acids of "Schock in my Town," but the style is so different that the comparison becomes untenable.

It's not that it's no longer understandable, it's just that it touches on quite niche themes that either you love and dive into studying, especially the history of Occitania and references to a certain historical past, or it's hard to digest because you don't understand anything. In this, perhaps there is a desire to intrigue in order to encourage the search for new solutions, but what was poetry in a Gothic line has now become raw intellectualism, and I must admit I don't dislike it. Ferretti is a 50-year-old man and couldn't remain tied to the sad image of Juri shooting for Gola Profonda or Tokyo Decadence...

Hal, let me know if it's available in Sardinia, because here, as usual, we're out of luck... I have to order it and who knows how long I'll have to wait....
