Well, you know how it is, I haven't spent my days educating myself about Hollywood in those years...your "They buried your personality under tons of makeup, platinum blonde dyes, insatiable sexuality, humor, and emptiness" shows that you really know very little about MM. That's a fact.
It didn't bother me because "whore" is just another word... derogatory... if he despises it, he was right to use it. I wouldn’t have used it for the sake of manners. I would have used the words ambitious, megalomaniac, and egocentric.

Excuse me for a moment... I give myself the benefit of the doubt, but as well-written and heartfelt as the review is, I just can’t see in that photo the portrait of a woman in a moment of fragility: I see her in yet another pose, in a highly celebrated picture, and no one can convince me that it isn’t a classic FAKE photo! Second: "They buried your personality under tons of makeup, platinum blonde dyes, greedy sexuality, humor, and emptiness." I (in my opinion) find it amusing and completely false from a historical perspective that "THEY BURIED." SHE buried herself under tons of makeup, dyes, whims, and star meltdowns, along with relationships with the powerful of the moment. She wasn’t capable of doing anything, and even today she is celebrated more than a deity; she achieved her goal... as for the first comment, a bit ugly and very annoying from a female perspective, totally out of place; but if they had called her an ASPIRANT, would it have changed anything?

Well, starting off with "great whore" in the review of a woman talking about another woman in a moment of vulnerability (for her) is not exactly the best timing...

Nice discussion... and nice review, although (in my opinion) it completely idealizes the subject... I see her posing yet again; maybe it's my lack of trust... Honestly, I don't see much of a difference between her and Belen. Where would the difference lie?! Marilyn was involved with the Kennedys, the other one is with royalty... it seems she isn't as megalomaniac and ambitious! Joking aside, I've always imagined her as the classic fake, neurotic social climber who would sell her mother for a crumb of fame. But this is just an impression: I could easily be wrong. K, I offer myself as a tattooist! :) (Pssssst... the phrase is nonsense, come on...)

I quote SEnmayan and add that it's pointless to bring Hoglan on the team if you're just going to have him be the bad copy of Herrera...

MD (stands for Modern Drummer magazine...ed): What newer drummers have inspired you?
Brann: I really like Jean-Paul Gaster from Clutch – he's a badass, a new John Bonham. Dave Witte from Burnt By The Sun, and formerly of Human Remains, is one of my favorite drummers out there. We've been trading beats since we were teenagers. Other drummers I like include Chris Pennie from Dillinger Escape Plan, Sean Reinert from Gordian Knot, Death, and Cynic, Danny Carey from Tool, and Damon Che from Don Caballero. I like watching my wife play too. She's in a band called Cat Fight.

I don't know about cars; I think it's impossible to rank them... since you like Mastodon so much, it's logical that you see him as your favorite... "Heavy and not" can't be seen because jazz drummers are on another level (although I still believe that Dailor can easily play jazz). Dailor has a poster of Carey in his room... Carey invited him to accompany him around the states for some drumming clinics... I don't know if he took "lessons" in the true sense, but he has certainly been significantly influenced. Rob gets on my nerves too (he's a pretentious clown), but the fact is he wrote Burn my Eyes, The More Things Change, Through the Ashes of Empire... Mastodon has infinite talent, but I have the impression that they often shoot way too wide... technicality that (often) doesn't resolve the songs... a bit self-indulgent (clearly this is my opinion).
@Olifs: You're telling me that by watching a few videos on YouTube (even an entire concert) you can say whether Hoglan executes Herrera's fills perfectly?! Have you verified that every single snare hit, bass drum, hi-hat, and whatever else is repeated perfectly? Do you realize that's a ridiculous claim? Anyway, I simply reported Hoglan's thoughts. That doesn't mean Herrera is better than Hoglan; every musician has their own style... Vai (who knows how to handle an electric guitar... so to speak) would never be able to replicate TJ Elmerich's style... that doesn't mean TJ is better than Vai... for the rest, I agree... Dailor definitely deserves a lot of consideration...

There are so many amazing drummers out there that I don't see how anyone can judge one as the best... besides, the drummer from Mastodon learned from Carrey, so... but apart from those mentioned by Cornell, there are Hoglan, Herrera (Hoglan himself said he couldn't replicate some of Herrera's fills...), Kontos, McClain, and a long list of other names... then that "heavy and not" can't be seen... and I think you know that well too... the review is hilarious precisely because it's so fanatical... then again, de gustibus, in my opinion, Machine Head are absolutely great (even though Mastodon are rhythmically much more varied...).
