Whatever you want, I don't know why I'm wasting time, but okay: so, the end of "gaia" sounds like a B-side by Editors, the sounds are terrible, with a little guitar in the background! Who cares about the music, it's embarrassing; it needs commentary, the usual base that was already used (if you guess which song you win a fish)! I smile at you while I drown: a guitar lick based on the repetition of a set of three notes, the sounds are pathetic, little bontempi piano (maybe you like it, it's very alternative)... if you want, I can go on...

If I do it, I'm sure I can shit on it in less than 5 minutes, will you change your mind then? Are you willing to say "'Damn, I don't understand a thing about music, at most I'm capable of playing the flute for myself, I can't tell a guitar note from a fart and you were right, he's crap, but I don't mind.."???? Are you willing?! To me, it doesn’t seem like it; as usual, you’re fine as long as they give you thumbs up and tell you "you're right" instead of "you’re an idiot"!

I say, but why doesn't he write?! Or is he just being a speaker?! Or is he off to hell, since he's already made his money?! He can write the most serious lyrics in the world (as if?!) but if he then puts under it a track that sounds like it’s from a Lino Banfi b-movie or from a Bontempi keyboard, the result is what it is! He should play smart, try rap too, almost without any musical base, maybe it will end up being less ridiculous...

Good job appe... I think it's just a matter of tastes and the mood at the moment! And right now I've somewhat abandoned the Mogwai...

No, but there's an implied meaning for me, magnum... I don’t know, not to repeat myself, I find it flat and inoffensive (I hope I’m making myself clear) and musically insignificant, in the sense that even though it’s not bad, it says nothing to me. Drive is beautiful, very beautiful; probably after listening to it so much, it has faded a bit for me, also because it doesn’t have many thematic variations throughout its duration... but it remains a stunning piece, one of my favorites. Yes, keep in mind that I’ve emphasized the point; in reality, they have some songs that I like... E-bow the letter, Lotus... the problem is that no matter how much I like them, they never drive me crazy. Just to give you an example, Echoes, Old man, or Nutshell or The noose are worth more to me than their entire discography put together.

@Magnum: I've been around on deb long enough (but I believe you have too..) to tell you that for some people here, they are legends (go take a look at past reviews...). Now, it's clear that there's a matter of taste, they are still a good group and there are some songs I like, but in general, I find them as flat as a ironing board. I don't like them when they do rockier pieces (Kenneth, Bad Day, which is practically the same as that trash It's the end of the world etc...), I don't really like them when they go softer either (man on the moon bores me even though it's not bad, drive and Everybody hurts I like but nothing more) and I find many of their songs (see bad day, it's the end..., airportman, beachball, Shiny happy people, especially for the video, and many others) terrible, poorly executed attempts (and quite a few) at making art rock...
Anyway, no worries, it's all good, everyone expresses their own and the debate is the fun of Deb! :)

I confess I’ve never understood what’s so incredible about R.E.M. They’ve released great albums, true, alongside a fair share of somewhat embarrassing songs, unsuccessful attempts at making art rock... it’s probably my problem! To be clear, they’re certainly better than 70% of the stuff that’s out there today... still, all these positive reviews intrigue me.

Come on, but if you talk badly about the Rem, it’s too easy (I’m running to De-amarti)!
