Bathory are not my genre, so I would be biased... and I don't know them well enough to give a judgment... no, I believe you, and anyway here you can find plenty of jazz albums reviewed, especially the classics like Miles Davis.

Give them a chance, AIc and Soundgarden are a bit hard to digest, but Soundgarden have brilliant arrangements and SAnno really play, with unique tunings and unusual tempos... AIC are the more emotional ones, you have to let yourself be taken away by the atmospheres, but they have incredible tracks like "Would", "Down in a Hole", "Rooster", "We Die Young" you would like, it's very heavy.

They're excellent, especially considering you're 18... but leave the power or stuff like that alone... dive into the ISIS, they'll blow your mind, try King Crimson, but maybe you already know them, I believe you know FLOYD, but if not, check them out (I'm biased; they're my favorites), then go for TOOL (they'll also drive you crazy) and if you don't already know them, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden...
