I'm not crazy about them, but I like them and I enjoy watching them. I've heard that it's worth it in person, and it's cheap too! 12 euros if I'm not mistaken, right?!

...and anyway, certain big riffs and acid phrases (like in a looking in view) the way Jerry pulls them out, nobody else does!

So wrong! :) Just kidding, Fra (but are you the usual Fra? The one from the AIC meeting? The one who's currently at Hp with the meeting at Bloom in Mezzago?)... yes, nothing innovative, but today I can think of few innovative guitarists, and innovation is not synonymous with good music... I ADORE Thayil, but as I wrote above, I don't quite understand why his name appears in so few tracks from Badmotor and SuperUnknown... from what it seems, Cornell practically wrote everything! Happy New Year to you, handsome... if it's you, see you at Bloom!

Happy New Year to you, lovely Bartolino! :) How did you do? You know, I play it too; if you have even a bit of flexibility in your hands, you can play it... it's the intention that is excellent, and that funk phrasing at the end of the solo is exceptional... yes, simplicity is its strong point, along with its acidic phrasing. Down in a hole has more overdubbed guitars, but in the end, yes, it’s three simple chords. Sending the hug back, Bartolina! :D

@tarpit: sorry, but where does your phrasing come from? His solos are always incredibly polished and impeccably constructed, not super fast (and who cares), but there's phrasing there—go listen to the tracks where he throws in some really on-point funk phrases! Doesn't he color his songs? That speaks for itself...give me names of anyone who "colors" their songs...I believe his songs speak for him.
Doesn't experiment: harmonically (as a heavy/rock guitarist) and rhythmically, he's experimented a lot: he's one of those who has made the best use of chromaticism and certain acidic sounds; he doesn't use alternate tunings, but apart from Soundgarden, who else has? And rhythmically (also with Soundgarden) he's one of the few who doesn't always write in standard 4/4.
I'm not saying he's the new Hendrix, but there's a big difference between that and passing him off as the first idiot who comes along.
@bartolino: hey there...be careful if you speak badly of him, Uncle Jerry will shove a rampage up your ass, and don't laugh! :) Bartolino, my dear, I must disagree. He's not a master of the neck, but he knows how to play and has a great rhythmic punch (them bones), the riffs are certainly heavy in style (even Darrell's were), but he knows how to mix them with other blues (sea of sorrow, heaven beside you), funk phrases (listen to the solo in sea of sorrow), and arpeggios that say a lot (private hell, down in a hole). Thank goodness, you’ve picked one of the most underrated and brilliant guitarists of the '90s! :) And by the way, if you go check the scores of Superunknown and Badmotorfinger, you'll find that STRANGELY Kim's name appears very few times...judging by the credits, it's almost all Chris Cornell's doing, and that's surprising given the amount of ideas. I haven't written anything about it yet, but if that's the case, Chris would be one of the most brilliant composers of the '90s, rather than trying to imitate Jeff Buckley!

He's not a guitar hero, but he knows how to play the guitar; the solos he creates are always excellent and perfectly suited to the songs, and as a composer, he kicks elephants' asses! If he's mediocre, we're in trouble!

Come on, don't take offense... I just said that it sounds a bit like a homework assignment... it's not bad, it doesn't have any nonsense, but it's flat...
