Right Said Fred Up

No Mariaelena, you should not have done this to me! This record is one of the skeletons in my closet; unfortunately, we all made mistakes in our tender age, and back then I bought it too (even though it was a counterfeit, from a street vendor) and then I must have gotten rid of it by giving it to a friend. I had forgotten about it, and you cruelly reminded me. In the ranking of the ugliest records I have ever bought, this one is among the top positions.

I stumbled upon this album almost by pure chance at a Kosmogabri fair. There was a limited mid-price campaign for Tzadik records, so I bought a CD by Otomo Yoshihide, whom I already knew, a CD by Ikue Mori, whom I only knew by name, and finally the CD by Hoahio, which I didn't know at all but that intrigued me from the notes on the cover. I must say that all three purchases were spot on; I was lucky, or Tzadik must be a record label that really cares about quality.

Music "that might please the culattoni"? I'm sorry, but I don't know, my good Enkriko. However, I've recently made four samples available, so all you have to do now is listen to them and figure it out for yourself.

I have "A berlino...va bene" and the instrumental "Up the line," which have only satisfied me halfway. However, if you tell me that this album is his best, I'll try to get it.
The Cure The Top

Nice review. I also find "Pornography" a bit overrated, but it is nonetheless more polished and slightly superior to "The Top," which may be more varied but is not necessarily more authentic for that. Rating: 3.5. The comparison with Syd Barrett is spot-on in this case; among other things, there is a certain physical resemblance...

Five on this record is exaggerated, but it’s more than decent. At first, I was a bit disappointed, mainly because of the sound, which felt a bit too acoustic and subdued, rather than the songs themselves, which are up to par. However, over time it has won me over: rating 3.5. P.S.: how boring are the Cure fans who wanted another eight "Pornography"! Luckily, Robert doesn't bother to please them!
