Nice review, some documentation, a bit of track-by-track information... quite complete, in short. It's a shame about the punctuation... maybe try to have the dwarfs fix it. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the band. I find them a bit too predictable and quite similar to Boltrhower and Tank (the ones from the legendary "Honour And Blood" and "This Means WAR!"). Matteo, if you like the genre, run and grab these CDs... the titles should suggest everything.

Well, I don't agree with the relentless criticism of one of the few Italian metal bands that have tried to invent something, at least on a lyrical level. Bathory was very thorough in his research, but he slightly overlooked his opinion on the musicality. Anyway, it's a good contribution to de-baser, very technical, very precise. He never stumbles over my compositional excesses or quality deadlines. Keep it up!

Ah, sorry Baathory, I forgot. I'll take care of it as soon as possible... So I'll send you the Darkthrone songs I have. I couldn't find either A Blaze in the Northern Sky or Transilvanian Hunger...

I have it but I've never listened to it seriously. I'll let you know... anyway, the review is very well done.

norvheim, I wasn't talking about the lyrics. I mean that the effect of a black metal song or a poem can be the same, on an emotional level.

I don't agree with you, Bathory. The Marduk are artists too, just like the poets mentioned in the introduction. The purpose of art is to convey emotion. Therefore, I find the Marduk much closer to the greats of literature than it may seem. Let me explain why. Surely you know G. Pascoli, so you will know how his sonic style, rich in onomatopoeia, alliteration, and assonance, changed Italian poetry. Now examine the content: the sweet gloom of the literary situations described, the dark visions of death. Doesn't all of this remind you of the dark majesty of Black Metal (particularly Dimmu Borgir)? The masterful display of expressive power (Marduk)? The grim sorrow, the absence of the state of grace typical of every text in this musical genre (Cradle Of Filth)? This is regarding the content. Now let's talk about the revolutionary role of Marduk in particular, comparable to the upheaval caused by the style of the aforementioned decadents: you surely know that Marduk, with the release of this album ten years ago (1994), laid the foundations of Black Symphonic Metal. Their impeccable technical contribution, the reasoned succession of riff sequences (also traceable in the contemporary De Mysteriis D.O.M. Sathanas) was the cornerstone on which soon after Emperor (1995, Wrath Of The Tyrant), Cradle Of Filth (1994 The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh), and Dimmu Borgir (1996 Stormblast) founded the new genre. The judgment now rests with you, and all you readers.
