Well, Emanuele, the first ephel duath (the ones from the CD you’re talking about) proposed a very particular avantgarde black... definitely nothing that can be easily categorized. You should try something a bit more "canonical" if you really want to know what black is.

Emanuele, maybe give them a try; they might interest you. Thanks, Vincent: by now I try to review only Italian bands, and there are quite a few, but finding the original material isn’t easy for me either. Death, as soon as the matter is official, I’ll let you know. I hope to have news by the end of the month. If you listen to these guys on Myspace, come back here and tell me what you think. I believe you would go crazy for them. The story of Fallen and Fallen Angel is something I have never understood either: I think it’s a matter of the space that occurs between the two words, a character presumably unrecognized by the module that receives the comments. If I write fallena angel and then type in the password, it tells me incorrect login... but if I just write fallen it's okay, yet the reviews come out under fallen angel... bah.

Well, the review seems to be written really well.

I would say that you lack both the basic concepts regarding punctuation and those strictly musical. And if you expanded your vocabulary a bit more, it wouldn't hurt. "Pure metal"??? Please...

Well, it's not like Iceland is new to releases like this. The Hilderog have been known in the scene for a while. I don't know this group, though. Good review. This time no incomprehensible phrases or stupid statements. Four well-deserved stars ;-)

Something like this, but in my opinion better, has been done with Saint Ange, a French film that's not too old... give it a try.

They were, as I seem to remember, the first band I heard live, quite a few years ago. I'm a bit taken aback that you're talking about black metal. From the little I've listened to, I found their proposal, certainly elegant, like a doom death interspersed with acoustic elements. Maybe I'll get this album, and then I'll let you know. Great review, really.

You can say that you don’t like them (I don’t like them either), but that doesn’t mean they aren’t important. The difference is immense. Pink Floyd were inventors of a new genre and innovators of rock, that is for sure, and I don’t think it’s up for discussion.

Uhm. Let's say you get lost quite a bit. There are sentences that seem completely nonsensical to me: "The following vigil consists of two parts: the usual incongruous drum-roll tirade, and a sort of drunken prayer to the impotent sky of the dead, helpless in the cold night, a masterful example of doom from which arises an unparalleled sadness" <----- what on earth does "vigil" mean?? And "impotent sky"?? Then there's a "ne" that further complicates everything. You could have easily spared us the last sentence. The Wall or Ummagumma have been -and I acknowledge this as someone who exclusively listens to and plays black metal- essential and tremendously innovative chapters of rock. You could have simply said that this release by Ulver holds the same importance in black metal that those Pink Floyd albums had in rock. You have all the potential, and I'll give you a passing grade, but try to avoid these temporary brain blackouts when you write. I haven't listened to the album since it seems to be hard to find, but I have all the rest of Ulver's works in original, starting with Bertgatt, which is my favorite.
