I never said he’s good because he did the solo (after all, I agree with you, if that was a nice solo, then Myung's, for example, are the stuff of bass history), but I liked him both for how he sang the covers and because he’s much more dynamic and active than the old one... Metallica made 3 great thrash albums (the first 3) and 1 beautiful thrash album (...and justice: okay, there are masterpieces like blackened and one, but it’s a slight step down from the others). Then I don’t know what happened, they changed genres... and that’s how a great hard-rock album (this one) and a decent hard-rock/blues album (load, which I think is unfairly bashed) were born.
