small note: (I don't know if it has already been mentioned in previous posts) Why is the title My Life In "A" Bush Of Ghosts instead of My Life In "The" Bush Of Ghosts???

I had also heard the story of the singer (Japanese if I'm not mistaken) who passed away and her parents. I don't think a complete version has been released recently, precisely because what can be downloaded is of very low audio quality... but the tracks seem out of this world, far from being scraps or demos. The titles I managed to find are Cunning Tendacy, Iron Bed, Late but not serious, Lot, Qu'ran, The Carrier.

AARGH! Another review I would have loved to write!!! However, frustration soon gives way to admiration for a beautiful "affective" review of one of the albums that I will eventually take with me to a desert island. A brilliant synthesis of ultramodern cut-and-paste and ancestral melodies, packed with ideas to sell under the counter to many contemporary post-rockers, to be listened to in a loop between Before&after, Remain In Light, and (why not?) the Bowian Lodger. I know there is a version with a greater number of tracks, later excluded from the tracklist for copyright reasons (the same reason the album was released in 1981, even though it was already ready before Reamin in light came out). I tried to download something, but the quality is nothing short of terrible... I don’t know if it has been reissued with bonus tracks... does anyone know?

I have the vinyl of Raw Power and indeed there is no comparison. While I tremendously admire Bowie, I must admit that his contributions to Raw Power left a bit to be desired. I have a memory of a dull, confused sound, very subdued, while in fact the new mix really screams. Also consider that Raw Power was Iggy's "comeback" album after two years of artistic (and not only) coma, and in the meantime the NYD were already in the spotlight and perhaps, while drawing from the old Stooges albums, the NYD themselves provided a kind of "example" of new raw and angry sound...
But the NYD were something else, more synthetic and concise, with not a hint of late psych embellishment (and maybe that's why you don't like them, psycho).

In my opinion, the real qualitative leap that VDGG makes is with "H to He"; in this one they don't overly commit yet... Another masterpiece, too often underappreciated in my view, is the live album Vital (1978), featuring a fuller and rounder sound... a spine-chillingly ultra-distorted bass... I also believe it has been recently reissued with several bonuses.

"Such a rhetoric of a worn-out pro-American myth that truly surprises me how much success it has. I would say that unfortunately, there's really nothing surprising about the success it has..."

you're always the same Sixties fundamentalist, Psycho!!! ;-) While I also adore the historical fathers, the NYD really excite me for their being "transitional" between '60s garage and PunkRock. Bastards to the nth degree, then. The funny thing is that for punk purists, the NYD were too classic Rock'n'Roll...

Regarding your R.I.P.... I believe Jerry Nolan is also "among the many" now, right?

Well... the 80s? Let's Dance, although it was terrible upon its release (after Scary Monsters...), has been re-evaluated over the years. On albums like Never Let Me Down or Tonight, there are very few legends to debunk. Inspiration at the Nadir (or a willingness to dare, or simply to say something) isn't enough; a few nice songs here and there (Absolute Beginners, Loving the Alien... and then?) can't balance out an avalanche of junk. And please don't talk to me about Tin Machine as a rebirth.

Beautiful! Well done! I usually don't like reviews that start with a historical overview, but you managed to be precise, informative, and not trivial. What can I say about the album?
