Is it true that in Nuggets 2 there are different non-Anglo-Saxon things, like Os Mutantes (really great!!!)? I had heard about a compilation released a few years ago featuring psychedelic bands from Chile, Eastern Europe, etc. Do you know anything about it?

Indeed, I also see it as nothing short of a colossal task to review 4 CDs packed with different bands. However, the idea of the compilation somewhat annoys me: it's true that back then the 45rpm was the ideal format for that sound and that often the albums themselves were compilations, but I've learned that most of the "nuggets" still come from LPs. Do you think that with Nuggets I can wrap up the psycho-garage discussion?

At first, it didn't say much to me either. Then suddenly I was struck by PopTones... Anyway, in my opinion, there's no comparison between this and First Issue and Flower of Romance.

What a shame about the missed opportunity... the excuse of the 80s architectural mess could have given you a few more ideas beyond adolescent discomfort... I agree with psychopompe about Cale's production being too "refined" and the overall preference for Funhouse (and what about Raw Power???).

Great review, and the album is a blast. However, I don’t agree with the point about the limitations of the instrumental parts. More than a not-so-well-played blues album, Cheap Thrills should be seen simply as a classic acid rock record, with all the strengths and weaknesses of the genre (in the writer's opinion, many strengths and very few weaknesses).

I'm not saying there's no reason to believe in Mogol, but I think that in B-M's songs, the autobiographical element takes a back seat to the exemplarity of the situations depicted with a more "visual" and cinematic approach, rather than a strictly poetic singer-songwriter style.
