You said it right, Turk; it's a matter of context. In Bellocchio's film, the final blasphemy was cathartic and liberating, and I’ll tell you more, it was truly enjoyable! Here, it was simply gratuitous, and since I don’t like blasphemy, insults, and anything else that’s pointless, sometimes it even offends me. And since I somewhat identify with this site (for its passions, refined tastes, and pertinent music critiques), it bothers me to see it tarnished by a bunch of idiots. With this, I am neither a kiss-ass nor a sycophant.

I on the other hand did better, I got 4 out of 5, then the fifth one got stuck inside the CD player and now it won't come out anymore, and yesterday morning I took everything to be repaired, I hope to get back the CD and the player, damn it!
I don't know this album but the references you mentioned I liked a lot, definitely worth a listen!

If you knew me and could read what I've written, you would also know that I am an anticlerical believer and that you would have written nonsense about the bigot.

This is a beautiful album, but I can't understand why Tom Waits doesn't resonate with me. I don't know, I just don't get it, yet I enjoy all those who are more or less similar. I will delve deeper with more listens.
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus

This is a record that I liked, and to be more precise, I find it more forward-looking as a overcoming of one's own stylistic frameworks than "Abattoir Blues," even if I personally prefer "The Lyre of Orpheus" precisely because it reveals the more classical and less experimental side of Cave. That said, and without a doubt praising Cleo's beautiful review, I would like to clarify, to dispel any confusion, that here you have confused what is liked with what is beautiful and with what has "affirmed artistic value." I may not like Beethoven for a thousand reasons, but no one doubts his absolute value, just as I can enjoy the vulgar comedy of Leone di Lernia without ever dreaming of asserting that his work is even remotely art. It is wrong to state that artistic value is subjective; it is OBJECTIVE. What is liked remains solely within the realm of the most intimate subjectivity.

Dear dwarf, I am writing to you,
read carefully what I have written above, and since I know you have read it very well, I kindly ask you not to deliberately twist the narrative just to defend what is fundamentally indefensible.
However, for your convenience, if by some remote intuition that escapes me you haven’t fully understood the meaning of my post, here it is:
Point 1°) these were examples of how words can be meaningful and change the destinies of individuals or communities (laws, sentences, wars, etc.) 2°) Everything I mentioned has restricted someone else's freedom (a law does this by definition, a death sentence in the name of Allah or the People of the United States of America does it equally, a personal and direct offense does it without a doubt, and so do the lies pronounced in front of the United Nations) 3°) They are just words, but I believe, based on what I said, that they carry a "certain weight" 4°) If we really want to talk about censorship or revisions, I personally think that it is a democratic principle to dissent and ensure that something that "limits and offends" me can be changed through my intervention. 5°) Ever heard the phrase: "I disagree with what you say, but I would fight to the death for your right to say it"? To that question, I respond: "My freedom ends where yours begins," and it’s always Voltaire in his "Treatise on Tolerance".
For Voltaire, tolerance does not mean the indiscriminate acceptance of any opinion but rather aims to be an active stance against all forms of fanaticism and superstition. And this is where the Enlightenment thinker calls into question political power, which should, in an enlightened manner, combat all forms of fanaticism, and when this does not happen, it is right for the monarch to be swept away by the advancing civilization. This encapsulates and paraphrases my thoughts on how I would like "Debaser" to be "regulated."
Dear anonymous person who precedes me, I am writing to you,
and I invite you to go and read Voltaire's thoughts again, who, as an opponent of every revealed religion ("crush the infamous one" was his motto against the Catholic Church) as well as any form of atheism. For him, the existence of God, the cause and orderer of the world, is rationally demonstrable, whereas the definition of the essence and divine attributes goes beyond human understanding. According to Voltaire, the existence of God can be proven by reason: "If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him, but all of nature cries out that he exists." Therefore, God’s providence limits itself to guaranteeing the order and necessity of natural laws and does not engage in human affairs, and since my position towards God and religions reflects this thought, I find that to offend others’ sensitivities and beliefs with gratuitous and perjured posts as read above is profoundly offensive and should be promptly condemned.
I apologize if this long post does not mention music even for a moment, but it was necessary for me to clarify.

They will be just words, but those are just words too when the judges of California read out a death sentence, they are just words those of a death fatwa issued in the name of Allah, they were just words spoken at the UN by Colin Powell when he described the weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Saddam Hussein, they are just words the laws enacted by any parliament, they are just words if I (to you who are reading) tell you to fuck off and your mother too... after all, they are just words, what do you want me to do, you’re not upset, are you?!
Too bad that all these words have offended someone else's freedom, and I am absolutely against the fact that on Debaser one can still shamelessly offend, directly or indirectly, the sensitivities of others, especially while continuing to hide behind anonymity. It will be for the millionth time an unheard request, but please remove the possibility of being anonymous or at least delete all contributions that can clearly offend other users of Debaser.
