Jan Garbarek In Praise Of Dreams

By now, my relationship with you is a distant yet perpetually lost battle. We buy the same records; I can confidently say we have very similar tastes, and we would even like to write the same reviews. But that’s where I lose—while I think about them, mull them over, reflect, you’re already writing, and moreover, you never miss a beat! :-) Of course, ever since you told me you take 20 minutes to write a review, I’ve pretty much given up.
One observation, however, always overlaps in our purchases: this 2004 has really been musically disappointing, and consequently, there are few valid records, so it's easy for everyone to have them (if only!).
Anyway, this is a great album that I listen to constantly, and if I can recommend an album that I think you might be missing, go listen to L'Orchestra di piazza Vittorio. More than the album (which is interesting), what is truly valuable there is the multicultural project, and seeing them live (in Mantova in September) is really impressive. That’s where I’ve thought about a review a thousand times!

The magnificent second part of the concert at Alcatraz makes me realize how, in fact, this album is really nothing compared to Nick's story!

Debaser is not a school of sociology and history, but sometimes so much nonsense is read that it’s sad!

Machekà, I searched for this record yesterday but it seems it was released in 2003 and after 10 months it went out of print and now how am I supposed to find it?! If I'm lucky it will be available unsold among some pile of other unfortunate CDs or J_ will cross it for me.

And you did well, Puglia, because I'm listening to this CD right now; I've played it three times in a row to see if listening to it more could make it better... but it really sucks! I don't know which one to vote for between this and the REM album as the disappointment of the year, it's truly a great race to the bottom. It makes me want to say that the previous album was better, damn what a heavy statement!!!!

And what if the beautiful things really do fade away? Luckily, this world of crap is full of beautiful things; you just have to go out and find them, like you did with this import record, but the cover really sucks!

I've always been pissed off by Britpop; I've always found it a successful jumble of sounds without a real reason to exist. Let's say it's a nice way of building on old ideas, but what has increasingly gotten on my nerves is the attitude of those guys who were constantly shooting their mouths off at each other (Oasis vs. Blur).
