This album carries an infinite sadness of spirit; I listened to it but left it there. Review, as always, impeccable.
Souad Massi Deb
Voto:
I find this record to be arranged in a rather traditional style that takes away the international breath this artist deserves to have; the last one, perhaps also thanks to the change of label, has a more modern feel and the sounds embrace more European arrangements without ever neglecting Souad Massi's Algerian roots, but it doesn't get bogged down in the stylistic clichés of the rai from previous albums.

I liked it a lot.

You truly deserve my heartfelt compliments, perhaps the highest review I have ever read on DeB (and I've been here for almost four years!). After all, the experience of watching the film in the cinema more than 10 years ago was a punch from which I never recovered; I didn't know what to expect at the time, so I later bought the DVD (Dolmen Home Video edition, for those interested) and watched it again, rather listened to it, with deep attention. What you don't talk about enough is the anguish and resignation that the character/narrator coldly expresses regarding his terminal illness; few times in my life have I been so struck by a film, precisely because of the way Jarman (the blue frame) projects into the mind all the powerful images that are absent from the cinematic screen. Finally, I've always thought about writing a review of this film, but yours makes every intention of mine seem pointless.

In short, are we the only ones who dared the reckless purchase, me and the excellent reviewer? The CD is not as terrible as it's described; it's enjoyable at times, often self-referential, and ultimately (meaning throughout the entire listening experience) repetitive and monotone. However, taken for individual moments, it proves to be pleasant and makes for a great background, but you definitely need to be holding an aperitif in good company and not in the crowd of one of the many bars in the square or as a modern background to a nice dinner... then the 20 euros are well spent, otherwise not. Still, with all these great collaborators, something more could have definitely been done, and making a pleasant album under these conditions is far too easy!

Flawless review, so much so that the one I was preparing was promptly discarded! I will settle for listening to the album in question while reading a Japanese cookbook in my penthouse overlooking Lake Garda... complete with greetings and aperitifs.

I listened to them (good) as well as saw them (shy) in Urbino this summer in the company of the good magician. The album is quite enjoyable, somewhat monochord, and the version of "l'ultima occasione" by Mina is beautiful, but if you listen to the original version, it's (as usual) a whole different thing.
Renato Sellani Trio A Bruno Lauzi
Voto:
I heard the album some time ago at a friend's house in Senigallia; after all, Sellani and Massimo Manzi come from there, and the tribute to Bruno Lauzi is absolutely warranted. The text of the letter is beautiful and poignant, even if it's a bit messy, but I have always admired Gabri's sensitivity.
The Album Leaf Into The Blue Again

Yes, I really liked the first album a lot; in fact, I have it among the records near the player, so it will be an easy catch for me as well. Happy to read you again, foschicciù.
