Another great album purchased along with Lhasa, "The Living Road", reviewed last week.
Another wonderful work that skillfully combines Algerian music with flamenco, jazz, folk, and Mediterranean music in general. Warm, passionate, heartfelt, and engaging music, allowing the young singer to showcase a beautiful and powerful voice with great expressive capacity, making even the less successful pieces come alive and compelling.

An extremely pleasant album that touches on masterpiece territory for an excessive traditionality in the arrangements and sounds which, although commendable, align with a long tradition of singers and groups that preceded our Souad. Nonetheless, a beautiful debut, full of emotion and Gypsy rhythm (the track "Ech Edani" sounds as if sung with the Gipsy King) with irresistible pure flamenco steps ("Houria") or songs reminiscent of Tracy Chapman (the same "Deb" that gives the album its title).
It's wonderful to feel all this energy that blends, that fuses, creating something new and leading us to explore unexplored and never-before-heard spaces. Despite those people who, on the threshold of the XXI century, still reject Jews, hate any form of integration, curse gays and others in the name of some "tradition" to defend... and this website, alas, knows something about it lately.
