The album is very "charming," meaning in a state of grace, but in the long run it is monotonous and becomes dull, like, for instance, that of Andrea Chimenti, very beautiful, polished, and sophisticated but ultimately deeply boring.

If Rava is no longer taking risks, it's because others are now copying him! And Bollani seems sufficiently recognizable as his own style. Then, it's true that the same names always come to the forefront, but you know how many classical albums are sold outside of Abbado, Muti, and the deceased Pavarotti, Berestein, and Karajan, plus a few other names? Practically nothing if it doesn't have these names! And if in Italy there weren't Vasco Rossi, Ligabue, Jovanotti, or Zucchero, how much money do you think record companies would be willing to invest in "new names" that don't have a strong marketing push like X Factor or others? Let's stop with this "Indian reserve" discussion!

I went to listen to this "bunch" of splendid musicians in a decidedly more worthy place, namely inside a Palladian villa near Rovigo, where a provincial administration, evidently among the most astute, offered the event for free. I must say that the excellent impression the album left me has been confirmed by the concert. In Polesine, there was Boltro instead of Rava, but even with the change in players, the result remains the same... especially during the group's solos, where the one who impressed me the most in this evening of grace was Boltro, while I found Rea to be "merely" impeccable. In another solo live performance, Rea, among my favorite pianists, impressed me much more.
