Here, this is an example of a good "brick," a "dense" film that does not, paraphrasing Bubi, fail to be enjoyable. Gripping, perhaps with a few minor excesses of rhetoric, but definitely among the best films with many Oscar nominations in recent years. Among the best of the prison genre. The excerpt from the wedding is the beautiful Canzonetta sull'Aria.

Ah, okay, Polè. Opinions. Respectable, among other things. Of course, you start off strong with Moustache by indirectly telling him that he doesn't understand anything, and you show a lack of proper respect for opinions. That's why you end up with comments like, "If Poletti likes it, the movie sucks." A little broad-mindedness would be appreciated, simply put.

Personally, I am bored by all jazz, can you imagine? But I don't understand you. It's like you said that you like Coltrane. Just know that I agree with you. Whatever. Besides seeing them on TV, you also make the movies in your head!

Poletti, pull yourself together. You're going off track. What does Kubrick have to do with this? I can dismantle your argument in half a minute. Go check what I said about 2001 and how much I care about reverence towards Kubrick. Sure, I give 2001 a 4 because the boredom there can only slightly detract from the film, which in my opinion talks about something. This one talks about nothing. Now, I can tolerate boredom when it has content; boredom without content I throw overboard. You'll say: "What are you talking about? It addresses society, the aristocracy here and there, the climate of falsity and pettiness that governs every gathering just like in the 1800s and today"... for me, that's nothing. Let's encourage a bit more prison cinema.

Exactly, forget about him: go back to the genres he knows how to cultivate better. But you see, I couldn’t care less about 95% of those entitled to an opinion. Moreover, it’s nonsense: I know a ton of people who have committed suicide out of boredom after watching it. Meanwhile, we are 6 in favor and 2 against: that’s not 95%. Besides, it’s a crude statistic: it’s obvious that most people who watch it are impressed, since many of those who decide to see the film know what’s in store for them and likely expect to be satisfied. For instance, take Kosmogabri: she says she’s afraid of period films from the 1800s; she won’t watch it, and who knows what judgment she would give if she did. And so on. But what stereotypical idea are you rambling about? Come on. The usual missed opportunity to keep quiet. This film annoys me as much as a mule, see if I have to satisfy you by pretending to be an enlightened alternative who appreciates costume dramas.

Oh, take any director who focuses on the "particular." Eisenstein, Bunuel, Lynch. Scorsese here goes minimalist à la Bunuel and company, filling the film with ridiculous and redundant details. I don't know how you won't get bored.

Indeed, I don't agree either: I greatly respect Moustache's negative judgment, but I don't believe that Scorsese's interest should have manifested in any other way. Melodrama? No, no. They should coin a new genre for this film: Costume Boredom, Pallodrama... something like that. What a torture.

Ah, I didn't want to miss this one. I can't keep up with all the film reviews, but I promised I would chime in on this one. Here I am: I don’t have a refined palate, and for me, this film is a subpar product. Burdened by the boredom of objects from which Scorsese presumably wants to distance himself, the film drowns in it, remaining entangled; tedious, cloying, self-satisfied in those continuous minimal shots that desperately seek to carry the scent of Eisenstein's analog montages but ultimately end up being nothing more than the self-explanation of the boredom to which the film is subservient. Ryder is ordinary here just as she is in any of her other films. Just like Chaplin. However, I respect every opinion. Especially that of Moustache, to whom I say not to worry: if for Polè it’s a masterpiece, it means the film has more than one flaw; it’s an infallible law. It would be a 2, but in homage to a certain loquacious culture that revels in nothing when nothing is said with delicate words, I’ll do better.

Hey, but where the hell are you? Noisy club, niche, full of twenty-minute trips. It’s yours.
