Anyway, I haven't seen the '97 movie, and believe me, watching a film with the same script again isn't exactly easy. I’ll let some time pass. In the meantime, I reject this criminal use of well-known actors to bring to life a little theater of weeping and improbable escapades in Hollywood's style.

Haven't you seen this? And we're still talking? Marsc', go and check it out! I agree that it's a remake, but the same film with different actors and settings can lose quite a bit of charm. Anyway, Haneke doesn't sit well with me. I found "The Piano Teacher" annoying, far from discomforting.

I disagree. There are movies full of violence, but not with these elements. If you put together the usual story with the angry gangster, the pretty girl, the crime family, and plenty of MP5s, you know it's a drag (even though with this same formula, good movies still often come out). But after introducing two distinct, made-up caddies, a damned normal family, and a setting so quiet it seems unnerving, violence can really be an added value. It can genuinely justify the much flaunted comparison with A Clockwork Orange, a film of irreplaceable charm because packed with a new aspect of violence—one that is gratuitous and treacherous, with roots not in crime but in class struggles. This doesn’t happen. And let’s also admit that those 4-5 minutes of stasis are worth it. But not the following 15, where not even the foundations for healthy tension develop. Moreover, I wasn't asking for rapes or massacres. I'm talking about psychological violence, which can only be fully appreciated in the first part of the film.

Ah, was it you Q? Indeed, there has never been a more useless fake. Especially since it effectively ruined the average ratings! Anyway, I didn't like this movie at all. It's frustrating because it had exceptional potential in its hands: two great villains, a good setting, and two outstanding actors like Watts and Roth. After the first half hour, it's okay, then it loses its way. The scene with the child chase is frankly redundant, while the pause after the child's death is nerve-wracking and bordering on the paradoxical: Watts is hopping around to turn off the TV while her son lies on the ground, she unties herself and begins a personal struggle with the drying of her cellphone amidst Hollywood-like lines and melodramatic kisses with her husband. They could have given us two full hours of gratuitous violence, but instead, for half the movie, we are subjected to Watts' sappy nonsense. Furthermore, if the viewer is indeed a voyeur, we should expect them to derive pleasure from what they see, yet I would genuinely like to see who wouldn’t have preferred the two to go all out instead of grabbing a coffee, allowing the lovebirds to languish in Beautiful's style. Anyway, excellent analysis.

Well, by the way, "On The Run" doesn’t resonate as much as a Wish you Were Here or at least 5-6 other tracks from The Dark Side; in fact, quite a few people skip it entirely when listening to the CD, just to say. Maybe in this sense the reference is a bit gratuitous. And I think many recent experts in the field are a bit too astonished by Klaus, who, in my opinion, doesn’t deliver his best here.
